Great project! I had a guy that wanted a poker table, I had no clue! He showed me some pics. I found the plans on Rockler. I made the template from the plans. Very easy to follow. Came out great! He decides he wants texas hole'em. So I changed some things, but I refered to the plans often and the table came out great.

This was an excellent project. I purchased the base and legs, as I don't have a lathe but wanted the rounded look. I used quarter sawn cut for the base part of the top which gives the side profile of the table a very nice look. Also, I used gold leafing to cover the creases of the circle and the side pieces. Also, I used double sided velcro for the bottom of the felt and an 1/8th inch thick piece of wood cut just smaller than the size of the round felt so it could be easily removed and re-felted
Improvements I would make would include increasing the dimensions of the place settings by about 10% if not more...There really are only 5 or 6 useable spots if you have all guys playing, if they are anywhere near average or larger.

This was a fun project to build. But I made a few changes. I made my own pedestal out of 1 by 4 oak as opposed to buying one. I also changed the hardwood side of the table. Instead of putting veneer inlays on it I bought a piece of 3/4 veneered plywood and put it there instead. When I made that circle I cut it on a C&C router table, and it was cut about 3/16 too small so I ripped a piece of oak to that size and put it around the outside of it as trim and it turned out to look better than it would have if I had cut it to the right size.
