3 Piece Waterstone Set A sure savings over buying the individual stones.

Includes:

  • Item # 20542 - 800/4000 combination waterstone
  • Item # 49668 - 6000 single grit waterstone
  • Item # 47522 the Nagura stone.

Combination Waterstones - For preliminary sharpening where chips exist or bevel angle need to be changed, use the 250/100 waterstone. To remove smaller nicks and do a finish sharpening of woodworking chisels and other tools, the 800/4000 combination is the best choice. Finally, use the 1000/6000 waterstone for creating a polished edge. As shown in the photo on the left.

Combination stones are 8-1/8'' long X 2-1/8'' wide X 1-1/8'' thick.

Single Grit Waterstone - Extremely tough man made abrasive material. These stones cut faster than oilstones. Stones must be soaked in water prior to use and kept wet with water during use. Waterstones develop a slurry to speed the honing process. 800 grit or 1200 grit

Single grit stones are 8'' long X 2 - 5/8'' wide X 1 - 3/8'' thick.

Polish Stone - The stone is mounted to a mahogany base. These stones can be reflattened after sharpening wears the surface by wet sanding the stone on a flat surface with silicone carbide wet - dry abrasive sheet. As shown in photo third from the left.

Polish stone measures 7 1/4'' long X 2 - 1/2'' wide X 1/2'' thick

Nagura Stone - Forms a paste on finer grit Waterstones to speed and enhance polishing. Use with the 6000 grit stone. As shown in photo on the right.

TIP - These stones can be reflattened after sharpening wears the surface by wet sanding the stone on a flat surface with silicone carbide wet - dry abrasive sheet.

waterstone holderWaterstone Holder - For non-slip sharpening. The arms are made from chrome plated steel that resists rusting. Holder handles stones 7 to 9'' long.

Very excited. Only had time to sharpen a very low end planer but it now works better than when i bought it. Really excited about my next day off - I'm going to sharpen everything in the shop!

Very impressive. Waterstones are exactly what they are hyped to be. This set is, at a minimum, enough to get one started into the world of waterstones. Once inside the world, you will forever be locked. A plane edge that you can use as your shaving mirror OR the razor has that effect on folks.
An excellent product that I don't hesitate to recommend!

Stones are ok. Didn't pay attention to the size and assumed they were similar in dimensions to the Norton stones. Not wide enough to comfortably sharpen hand plane blades. Would be better if larger, but then they would cost more.

[These] waterstones are a good value and a excellent product. Make sure to keep your stones flat by rubbing them on float glass to which 220 grit sand paper is applied. Do this often during the sharpening process to keep the stones true and your edges won't stand the chance of becoming hollow or dished and your frustration level will be kept low.
Excellent product.
