A versatile support that can be mounted horizontally or vertically, on either the left or right hand side.
This is the lid support for a variety of applications! It is convertible since it can be installed on either horizontal or vertical, for lids or drop fronts. It is reversible to be mounted left or right, and change tension direction from lift-up to drop-down as needed.
It's adjustable: Tension adjustment can be made easily using a number 4 Allen wrench for lids or drop fronts up to 20 lbs. The angle opening can be set at 75 degrees or 90 degrees depending on how brackets are mounted. It's even demountable: Brackets can be mounted without the support arm attached, and the support arm can be removed! Lid or drop-front requires separate hinges.

Used on my granddaughter's doll hose roof opeing. The unit works very well, allowing the roof to come down very slowly. I am very pleased.

This is a nice high quality lid stay that has a silent ratcheting type mechanism making it effortless to open the lid but engages the friction discs for closing. This is not an effective safety device for preventing lids from slaming however, by the time the units are adjusted tightly enough to prevent slaming, they are so tight it makes the start of the close operation difficult. For simply keeping a lid open however these are very effective.

These supports replaced plastic units that could not support the drop down desktop. If you use the 1 1/8" measurement, the bracket will extend beyond the face of box and block the lid from closing.

I agree with one of the other commentors that this lid support functions best as a means of keeping a lid up but does not keep the lid from coming down hard. after tightening the lid support to its maximum it was hard to start down from the open position. I will look at other supports now.
"I have been buying your products for several years now. When I need supplies or parts for my woodshop I always go to your catalog. I receive other woodworking catalogs, but I always order from Rockler. The products are great and I have never been disapointed in the products. I purshased the table saw miter sled when it first came out. It has saved me time, money, materials. It is great.
Thanks again." -
