- Freud® 90-150 5-Pc. Up Cut Spiral Router Bit Set
Overview
Up-cut router bits are ideal for efficient chip ejection when cutting mortises, dado cuts, and deep blind holes, and also where speed of cut is the primary consideration. They also work perfectly for template routing when the bottom side of the project must be kept chip-free. The bit set comes packed in Freud's unique shadow box case, which can hang on the wall or mount on the bench, and features a tip-out shelf for easy access.
- Solid carbide construction for long-lasting, razor sharp cutting edges.
- Bits cut all composite materials, plywoods, hardwoods and softwoods.
- Use on CNC and other automatic routers as well as hand-held and table-mounted portable routers.

These are carbide. You pay a bit more for carbide but worth it.

Hi! i'm using 3/8 router bit (from "Freud® 90-150 5-Pc. Up Cut Spiral Router Bit Set" i bought together with this jig) and thee 3/8 indexing key. When putting a routed space over the key, the sled get stuck. It's like the indexing key is just a bit bigger than the router bit. I noticed it happens more with olive-wood than with MDF. Is there any suggestion? Thanks

BEST ANSWER: If I understand your problem, when you cut the slot in the backer board it is very tight to the alum. guide.
I have found the same condition . I double cut through each slot, time consuming. Next time I use it I will sand a little off the alum. guide trying to stay above the work surface.?????

Appears to work well with soft woods for the most part. Sometimes have to move over the bit a couple of times. On hard woods I have the same problems such as you describe and using a file to open the cut

Worth every Penny
These are great bits, worth every penny spent on them--upgraded from the HSS ones, it is no comparison.

Great bits, have worked well in MDF and pine. Almost impossible to get out of the packaging without a pliers, but one they're out they seem to do a pretty good job. Would still give 4 stars either way.
