Overview

The down shear angle of the cutters on these Freud Mortising Bits works to eliminate splintering, making them particularly well suited for cutting hinge mortises, where a crisp outline is critical. They can also be used ideal for joinery applications like mortises, and dadoes.

  • Designed with deep center gullets for maximum material removal without chip loading.
  • Cuts all composition materials, plywoods, hardwoods, and softwoods.
  • Use on CNC and other automatic routers as well as hand-held and table-mounted portable routers.

This is a bit I should...

Michael C from Eldersburg, MD Posted July 24, 2011
This is a bit I should have bought long ago! I have struggled with dado sets and spacers to cut dadoes in plywood only to have either a poor fit or splintering or both. This bit cuts a perfect dado, and the edges are incredible with no splintering. I am extremely satisfied with this bit!

Not impressed. I used the 1/2"...

Jeramy H from CA Posted November 25, 2012
Not impressed. I used the 1/2" bit for the first time today, and one of the two carbide cutting blades immediately broke off. The carbide was perfectly intact, just no longer attached to the bit. Luckily the second carbide blade was attached properly and I was able to do my dado with the single carbide. This is the first time I've had a problem with a Freud router bit.
