Well built and easy to install

I purchased two for a workbench I just completed and found it well built and easy to install.

Use slots to install 2X8 Fir Faces

Anthony M Posted August 9, 2014
Not so easy yet its worth the effort. The custom workbench is two 3/4" ply top with a replaceable hardboard top. The vise is mount on glued and screwed two 2X6 wood.
Do not attempt to drill holes for the 3/4" pipes. Do not lose the quick release feature. Mount the cast metal base with 1/4" lag screws Hex head
My workbench is 30" wide. Thus my back face is 30" wide using 2X8 Fir. The front face is 18" and the sides were cut at 45 degrees. All in all a very fine vise. It was so easy after trying to drill holes. Do not try that. Using 2X8 faces was possible via slots the pipes.
The slots are the to the pipes has no effect on the exact depth to allow fave and bench top mated. 2X8 is the best size for wood vise. The proud to the pipes has no effect on the vise performance.

stop whining people

This is a good vise. Solid. Like the quick release feature. It's NOT hard to install. Yes the directions are hard to read. Don't read them. Look at the picture on the box and copy it.
1/4" lag bolts to attach to table
1/4" ID/ 3/4" OD washers on the lag bolts (the mounting holes are conical and it was hard for me to get the lag bolt all the way in with my socket wrenches)
#14 screws to attach front vise plate to clamping wood
