Purchased the tenoning jig and did the setup per the included manual, the revised online manual, and the tech bulletin. The main work support plate is toed to the right, not paralel to the sawblade. The setscrews previously included are not there and the tech bulletin says this adjustment "is no longer necessary due to a redesign of the jig." In my case, the adjustment is still necessary. Based on a test cut, the plate toes to the right, about .015 in 3". Anybody know how to correct this?

on May 29, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The clamp assembly will accommodate 3 1/2 inches. There are two positions for the guide/miter bar: one for 3/4 stock and the second for wider stuff. I am really pleased with the jig. It is solid and beefy and the micro adjustment enables you to quickly dial into the correct thickness. It's a pleasure to use.

on Jan 3, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I used 5/4 so far, but I think it will handle more. The measured the distance with the hand wheel all the way out and there is 3" plus. Now the length of the plate is 5" and it is 3" from center line of the hand screw to the stop. You do not get good instructions with this component but it is really heavy duty. One last thing, do not get this unless you have a big table saw. it takes up real estate on the table, and it is heavy.

Dear Linton T.
As set up, the openining between the base of the jack screw and the vertical base is just under 3 1/2 inches, but the blue steel piece that the jack screw goes through is bolted to the jig and with spacers and longer bolts or even threaded rod, there is not practical limit to the stock, just what you can handle. Dr. J.

on Aug 31, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The jig uses a miter slot bar for a standard 3/4" x 3/8" miter slot which is attached on the bottom with screws. The bar includes a disc for a t-slot which can be removed if you saw's slot does not have it. You can always make a bar and attached it using the existing screw wholes if you saw has a non standard miter slot.

For the record, I asked this question because the thing is supposef to git any saw with a miter slot greater than 4 inches, and mine is about 5.5. Only, in the adjustments, it says to slide the jig up to the blade, and it won't reach. I had to use a piece of scrap copper supply pipe to bust the allens free, bit for others reading, there is a second channel for the miter bar. For the rest, or for all of it, just light the instruction manual on fire. Even the guys at the Rockler store couldn't help. They really should make a YouTube video.

can you place a piece of wood on the face for zero clearance miter cuts?
Jared
on Apr 9, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Dear Jared,
The faceplate has 4 evenly spaced holes which a 13/64 inch drill bit slips through somewhat tightly. They are about a 3/4 inch in from the sides. This is a very heavy casting, heavier than my old Delta and I had to adjust the runner slide in width slightly to fit my Craftsman 10 inch table saw. Hope this helps. Dr. J.

I suppose you can, but that is not the proper safety procedure. I would rely on the table saw plate that you should have cut for basic cutting using a dado blade. You can make your own zero clearance plates. Good luck and please be careful.

I bought this HD Tenoning jig some time ago and had planned to use it on my General 350 cab/saw. I set it up today and tried it out........did not get far. Turns out the General table saw has the standard 3/4" miter gauge channel, but, it incorporates a 7/8" retaining washer that has a rabbeted edge, which makes the jig 100% useless. Looking for a solution, maybe parts availability or other. thanks

I had a similar problem with my Sears Craftsman table saw and I think I removed some washer, thinned out the the piece that fits in the channel on my belt sander as it only needed a slight trimming and it runs through the channel fine. I have not yet used it but I know it works on my table now. Hope that this helps. Dr. J

i changed out the miter bars to aluminum miters available at Rockler to fit my Bosch Contractors saw. This was an easy change and improved the fit. Jig worked very well cutting several dozen tendons. Keep it oiled when you put it away to prevent corrosion.

Can you be specific on which aluminum miter bars from Rockler. Did the mounting holes line up or did you have to perform some modifications
No the mounting holes in the miter bar won't line up with the holes in the jig so you will have to drill at least one new one in the miter bar. Look up Aluminum Miter Bar at Rockler. They are blue. Please be sure the 3/4 x 3/8" dimension fits your saw. Any miter bar that fits your miter track will work so you can find the miter bars at other suppliers to. I recently purchased some six foot lengths of aluminum 3/4 x 3/8 at a metal shop to use for jigs. It is much cheaper than the the bars that are sold at the woodworking suppliers so if you plan to build some jigs that is an option too.

The miter groove on my saw is 3/4" wide x 7/16" deep. Will this tenoning jig work with those miter groove dimensions?

I have an old Craftsman table saw and it looks like this tenoning jig will not work because the distance between the blade and the runner bar is less than 4"? The only place this is mentioned is in the instruction guide. Also the picture on the front of the instruction guide is reversed?

At the rear side of the jig there is a lever that allows the supporting plate to rotate to the left. The rotation allowed is less than 45 degrees. What's the reason for this?
Also, when cutting an angled tenon is it better to move the plate to the left for the second (rightmost) cut? Or should one make the rightmost cut and then use a piece of scrap to shim the workpiece out to the right for the second cut? I imagine both would work and am asking what other jig users habitually do.

I like it.
The heavy duty tenoning jig arrived yesterday and I am very happy with it. I did have a bit of trouble getting it to work on my 50+ year old 10 inch Craftsman table saw, but when I attached a 5 by 6 inch by 3/4 inch plate over the original face plate everything came into the right specs. (There are 4 holes already drilled in the face plate and I used #10 by 3/4 inch screws to mount the 3/4 thick inch AZAK plate.) The face plate now can touch the saw blade, the set screw stop now works, the guide is now able to adjust to zero and I have 2 inches to work with. I am very happy with the workmanship of the jig and it is very easy and safe to use. I do appreciate the fine adjustment knob. Yes, I do recommend this jig. A great replacement for my homemade wooden jig.

Well worth the price
I have seen some reviews nit pick this like it was a $2000 commercial tenoning jig. I almost passed up on it and stayed with my home made jig. Glad I didn't. Easy assembly and alignment {Yes, the instructions could be better). It works great and is easy to change configurations. I use it a lot in making Honey bee equipment.

Solid and simple.
I think this thing is pretty awesome. I can’t count the number of times I’ve built a wooden knee to do something like this and how much fiddling around it takes. This thing went together fast and has done a great job. Yes the instructio a are not great but it’s not rocket science more like geology so pretty easy for this engineer. Well worth the Benjamin’s.

Pretty nice
Ignore the instructions for the most part and figure it out yourself. The washers holding the jig in the miter slot may need to be filed depending on your saw. Remove them and make adjustments carefully. May take a few tries to get it right, but once they fit, they work well. The micro adjustment nuts need to be separated to work properly, but you will figure that out.

Good machine with minor adjustments
Machine worked great but we made a couple of adjustments. There was a burr on the bottom that made a fair scratch in the top of our new SawStop. We cleaned up the edges and that took care of that issue. We also added a magnet so that the allen wrench won't get lost.
Well worth the funds.

Solid, well made, clean machining
Bought this in spite of some negative reviews. The jig is solid, well made with clean machining. Everything works as it is supposed to and adjustments are easy. Exactly what I was looking for to use with an old Unisaw and old Delta Shaper.

A Good Buy For DIY'ers
If you own a Delta Cabinet Saw you may find you'll need to make a slight adjustment to the jig's guide bar. The front slot disc goes in fine but the back one was too tight. This lead me to see that the bottom plate of the jig may not be machined as flat as the top of my saw. The fix is to remove the guide bar from the jig and apply a very thin fender washer or even better some shim stock for micro adjustment under the bottom plate and over the screws to where the guide bar meets the bottom plate. Reassemble and it should be fine. Be sure to clean both surfaces and wax the saw top and jig bottom plate. Otherwise a pretty good purchase for us non-production shop woodworkers. Now I can get to work on my Shaker cabinet doors.

Good quality casting, nice heavy jig
I adapted this to my big saw, it adjusts easy enough to not be a hassle when settings need to be changed. The stops were dead on out of the box, but have not gotten to actually cut anything with it yet, but clamping pieces were easy enough don't see any reason it would not work just fine. Much easier to set than the home made thing I have used in the past.

I found this jig on Rockler's...
I found this jig on Rockler's web site. I read most of the reviews, and it sounded like the jig I wanted. I also took into account the not so good reviews some of the people gave. Being made out of Cast iron and locking rail into the miter groove on the table saw was a plus. I got it yesterday and I checked it over for smoothness on the bottom side that runs on the table saw. It was fine. All I had to do was move the miter guide. I set it up for the cuts I needed. I had about 20 pieces of wood that needed a tenon on both ends, waiting for this jig to arrive. I started in and before I was ready to finish I was done with all my tenons. This was so easy to use and to do the same cut over and over, sliding the jig back a forth was a breeze. I can't say enough about this jig. Well worth the price to me. Built to out last me too. I may not push this jig to it's limits or use all of it's functions, but for what I needed it's the top of the line to me. Also some complaints were about the instructions. I went to youtube and watched a video that was pretty much the same jig there and got all the info I needed for mine. Anyway great addition to my improving workshop.

This Tenoning Jig is a real time-saver. It works well, and I look forward to many years of enjoying this handy addition to my woodworking shop. I rate the jig as excellent, but the instructions as poor. You need to already know enough about this tool to assemble it yourself, because the instructions are worse than useless. Check the diagram to make sure you have the parts, then throw the instruction manual to the side, and you will be fine. My guess is that there was a great deal lost in translation, or that the writer had no knowledge of the jig in particular, or woodworking in general. But, again, an excellent Tenoning Jig.

Purchased this jig to build some mission style end tables for my wife. I use a Craftsman saw and did not have any problems setting this up on my saw. Works very well, and made cutting the tenons easy. Very repetitive but easy, you do have to be careful to make sure the wood is square, but if doing smaller peices can do 2-3 at a time. Very pleased with this and will continue to use for years to come.

Purchased this jig a couple of years ago and have used it with great success. One this to keep in mind if you have a Craftsman Saw, you may need to adjust the runner bar. I found a couple passes on the belt sander worked just fine. The runner is just a little bit wide for the Craftsman. Be careful you don't want to take off too much.

When first received the jig I did the usual cleaning and waxed the machined surfaces. I found the lagging miter wheel did not fit into the miter slot but a thin washer under it simply solve the problem and allowed the jig to fit nice and tight. I did not get any scratching as mentioned in other reviews, possibly due to the waxing, and all the adjustments linned up without incident. Ir is nice and sturdy an smooth to use.

The instructions refer to a process that doesn't match the picture so I never did figure it out.Editor's note: There has been a change made by the manufacturer and part of the instructions are no longer valid. To do the alignment now you must:a) loosen the lever J on the top surface of the slide mechanism. b) on the underside of the base loosen the 2 hex screws that hold the base to the slide mechanism.c) adjust the base its edge is parallel to the face plate.d) retighten the hex screws.

I purchased the "Tenon Jig" in...
I purchased the "Tenon Jig" in March of "06" and I have used the machine for several projects with outstanding results each time. The real payoff for me is the ability to repeat the same cut over and over as I have been building outdoor deck stools that have tenon secured stretchers. Having the ability to "dial in" the proper cheek cut and run them all at the same time is a real time saver. If you take the time and effort to set the machine up right you can get results equally as good as I have. This may not be the machine to quickly run 1 tenon through your saw but if you need the repeatabilty that I need this IS the tool for the job. I cannot say enough about the Rockler customer service and speedy processing of my orders; they know what they are doing and have secured my business for as long as they want it.

So I purchase this jig for its stability of it. Had a shop made jig that never felt as safe as this does. the only down side was the runner need tweaking with a few washes add to give me the clearance I need for my table saw. Decent jig for the price
This jig was definitely built to last. Quite heavy to lift. The things I liked the most was the micro adjustment knob which made it simple to move the cut over a small amount. Very easy to use once you get it put together. The things I didn't like started with the directions. My advice, throw them away. You can put the jig together without them, there is basically only one part to attach. Make sure you align the edges with the saw table. The other thing that should have been engineered better is the screw clamp. It can't be moved so if you have a small piece of wood you will need to use a clamp to hold it to the jig.

Nice jig but some quality control issues
This is a solid jig that didn't involve too much set up to get it up and running. Here are several reasons I didn't give it all five stars.
Most of the instructions were not even in complete sentences, and half way through, all the letter designators for the parts get changed. Second, DO NOT put this jig on your table saw until you filed the sharp edges, unless you want deep scratches on your cast iron table. Third, you will need to move the miter bar to the outside slot for initial setup, something they don't tell you. Fourth, the sticker with the measuring tape is already coming off. Fifth, the miter bar has a washer on both ends that makes it too tight to move smoothly. I took several pieces of cardboard and made shims. Shims should have been included. Definitely some quality control issues, but once I got it set up, it is turning out nice tenons.

A great, solid jig; glad I got it
After attempting to cut a number of tenons on my band saw, I decided to buy a tenoning jig instead. Overall, this is a great little jig. A bit more than I had hoped to pay and despite the confusing manual I am quite pleased with it. I suggest making a number of practice cuts first, to familiarize yourself with it.

Easy to order, fast shipping. This is a heavy tenon jig. The directions for tuning are good if you read them before tuning the jig. Took me 30 minutes. Minimal grease, appeared to have been cleaned. The only problems I had were the inset screw on the bottom of the jig next to the miter was not screwed in and when I put it in the slot it scratched my top. Should have examine it more closely. The miter has more play than I would like, will have to tune it. I would like to be able to cut deeper tenons for large pieces, but am finding a way around that. Overall pretty good jig. Wish it were made in the U.S. though.

I just purchased this jig after...
I just purchased this jig after looking at a few others, and reading the many reviews. The setup was quick and easy. I had to add small washers to the guide bar, but it fits tight on my Ridgid table saw. The quality of the bottom milled surface is poor since the burrs and sharp corners were not removed. This is probably why some users get scratches on their table saws. I added self adhesive UHMW tape to this surface and it slides smoothly. Heavy duty jig. Works great.

The jig is very well built....
The jig is very well built. You can easily cut repeatable, precise tenons. I'm making a set of dining room chairs, and it has been a real time-saver. However, don't expect to get much help from the users manual for set-up, poor/missing diagrams, instructions that don't match the diagrams. But if you're doing projects that require cutting tenons, you can probably figure out the set-up.
