Overview
Access power and USB ports from your desktop without the mess of extra cords and wires! The Hide-a-Power Pop-Up Power Strip slides down into an existing 3'' grommet hole, or you can drill your own in a custom location. Pull up on the ''grommet'' and it clicks in place to reveal two powered USB ports for charging iPhones, smart phones, iPads, tablets, digital cameras and other USB chargeable devices, plus two 3-prong outlets for laptops and other electronics. Purchased this item to go into our granite counter top of our island. USB option will be handy to use should we need to charge our cell phones or other devices. Plus I like the option of closing the units.

I am updating my kitchen in Michigan, where the current electrical code now requires an electrical outlet on my kitchen peninsula, which has an overhang. The pop up will allow me to have appliances on the countertop. The other 2 units will be used for cabinets in the living room to make outlets more accessible.

BEST ANSWER: It is about 6" in the raised position and about 8" exposed below the mounting surface when closed.
These are not exact measurements, I used two of these in customers desk last year with good results.

We would like to use this pop-up outlet in our island, that has a sink. Would there be a need to have an outlet that is 20amp? Our breaker in basement for island can handle up to 20amp. Is there a problem using this 12 amp outlet?

BEST ANSWER: Hey D. I can't give you a technical answer, but I installed this in my wife's vanity and a typical morning finds her charging an Apple Watch, Bluetooth headphones, heating a curling iron and running a hair dryer. The circuit is on a 20amp breaker and we have had no problems at all.

Is there a seal around the grommet hole?

BEST ANSWER: There is not a rubber gasket but you can lock it down pretty tight. You would need a bead of silicon if you were trying to make it water tight.

High quality- solid
High quality and well built. There are lots of cheaper options on the market but they are flimsy plastic- I would not trust them to last. This one is rock solid. Only complaint is that USB ports would make more sense above the plugs.

Flimsy and blown
These appeared to be a great idea
The first unit lasted under 12 months and would not stay up, as the ball bearing, which is pushed out by a spring would not work properly.
We replaced it and the USB charger on the second unit has stopped working.
Tried to pull the unit apart - looks like the cap on the top needs to removed to achieve this, but could not.
With regular use, don't rely on this to last. Tried calling the supplier National Lighting, but no answer from Customer Support.
