COLT MaxiCut Forstner Bits Cut Bore Holes with Self-Cutting Centers

Colt Forstner Bits

Colt’s MaxiCut Forstner Bits feature a RotaStop Shank System which prevents them from damaging the shank and plenty of boring ability.

COLT®’s MaxiCut Forstner Bits combine the advantages of Forstner and boring bits to create clean cuts, even in side or end grain. The RotaStop® Shank System automatically locks into any chuck, stopping rotation that could lead to damage on the shank, and the RotaStop polygonal section on the outside of the bit reduces surface contact to three points — reducing friction and leading to faster work. The cutting head design has a self-cutting center point that offers no resistance as it cuts through ahead of the main cutters, asymmetrical chip breakers to cut swarf into chips rather than swirls and relieved side cutters for easier resharpening. The COLT MaxiCut Forstner Bits, which are made in Germany, are suitable for half, inclined and overlapping bore holes, as well as for deeper holes. They come in sizes ranging from 1/2″ to 2-1⁄4″ diameters, with prices starting at $27 in 2010.
