DeWALT’s new 12″ Sliding Compound Miter Saw is the DWS780, running off a 15-amp motor that delivers 3,800 rpm. An LED light and cut alignment system (which doesn’t require recalibration) casts a laser-like shadow on the wood surface, where the blade will come in contact. Cut capacities include 6-3⁄4″ vertical and 137⁄8″ horizontal; an exclusive back fence design will cut up to a 2×16 at a 90° angle and a 2×12 at a 45° angle. The DWS780 will miter 60° to the right and 50° to the left, and it bevels both right and left from 0° to 49°, with five positive stops, ranging from 0° to 49°, in both directions. Retail price for the 56-pound DWS780 is approximately $600 as of 2011.
