To get the most out of your pencil’s erasers, you can move them up through the metal ring by squeezing it with a pair of pliers.
I’m not saying that I make a lot of mistakes, but most of my shop pencils seem to have erasers that have been worn flat with use. A quick squeeze with a pair of pliers compresses the remaining eraser, extending it above the metal ferrule for added use.
