EZ-Clutch Quick Release System Resolves Bar and Pipe Clamp Difficulty
posted on April 4, 2006 by Rockler

Pipe clamps and bar clamps are great tools, and they’ve been around for a long time.  But there was one thing about them that we thought could use improvement: the tail stock could be a little easier to release.  Apparently, we weren’t the only ones who thought so.  Here, a customer describes his procedure for un-sticking the tail stock of his pipe clamps.

I have a mallet handy to tap the tail end free in order to move it.  I have been using black pipe and I can rarely move the tail end without tapping the steel plates that hold it in place.  I am unable to squeeze them with my bare hands, and I am not a weakling.

That's exactly why we developed the new EZ-Clutch quick release — to eliminate having to use a hammer or to have to squeeze the tight clutch plates with your fingers.  The EZ-Clutch dramatically increases your leverage and makes releasing the clutch plates on pipe and bar clamps effortless.  The EZ-clutch retrofits in seconds on ¾’’ Pony and Sure-Foot pipe clamps, and on any standard 3700 style bar clamp.  An added benefit of the EZ-Clutch system for bar clamps is that it works as a quick release for a tightened clamp, making unclamping your projects a one-handed operation.
