Fine Furnishings and Fine Crafts kicks off its 2010 show schedule this weekend, May 1 & 2, at the Hippodrome Theater/France-Merrick Performing Arts Center in Baltimore, Maryland. The Fine Furnishings Shows are the brainchild of Karla Little of KL Comunications. Karla created the shows because she noticed a real need for an platform for artisans to showcase their work for potential buyers.
The Baltimore show will feature approximately 50 exhibitors from throughout the Mid-Atlantic as well as from across North America who design and handcraft furniture, accessories, fine art, and craft.
The show has the distinction of being the only furniture show to be endorsed by The Furniture Society. Rockler is proud to be sponsoring the Best in Show Awards for this year’s exhibitions. The categories are judged by local experts, one of whom explains, “This show gives… talented craftspersons a venue to promote their work so we can all enjoy it and own it.” Additional shows this year are in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on October 2 & 3, and in Providence, Rhode Island, October 22-24. Check Fine Furnishings’ website for all the details. As kind of a teaser for the show, Fine Furnishings’ Facebook Page is running a ”Parade of Chairs”. There’s a new chair from one of the exhibitors shown every day. It’s just a small taste of the amazing works that can be seen at the shows! At Rockler, we are all about enabling woodworkers and artisans to shine! If you are in the vicinity of Baltimore, Providence or Milawaukee, make a point of visiting the Fine Furnishings and Fine Craft Show this year. You may come away with a real treasure (or the inspiration to build your own)!
