Once a woodworker has some wood, you’ll probably want to machine it. Got a project with large workpieces? Rikon has several new band saws out this fall, including the 22" Model 10-380 ready in November. The work surface on this big band saw is 19" x 24-7⁄8", allowing a cutting capacity of 14-1⁄2" height and 21-1⁄2" width with the 3hp motor. Guiding those large workpieces is a 5"-tall fence with a resaw bar. The 10-380 also has dual 4" dust ports, a magnetic switch which prevents the saw from turning on until restoration of power in the event of an outage, and cast-iron wheels and trunnion. Its 2009 suggested cost was $2,199.99.
