Last weekend the Rockler Blog Team (actually my ten-year-old-sidekick/daughter and I) attended a blogger party of a most unusual sort - it was a potluck, for junking bloggers, held in the middle of a flea market, with the food served on... junk! And it was a blast!
The party was hosted by Amy Versnik Nowak of Junkologie in her booth at the annual Oronoco Gold Rush Days flea market (in southern Minnesota). Oronoco is no ordinary flea market. People literally come from all over the country to go to this thing, and if you are a junker, Oronoco is the place to be.
Sue Whitney and Kimberly Melamed of JunkMarketStyle did a book signing at the Junkologie booth. They also brought along almost all the contributors from the JMS site, including Candy Allen, Junk Sophisticate; Kathy Stantz, Sylvia's Vintage Daughter; Gretchen Schaumann, Mimi-toria's Designs; Lanette Lorsburg, Cottage Elements, and Junkologie's Amy, also of WhisperWood Cottage. It was a real celebrity event! All the bloggers were supposed to bring a dish to share (Rockler brought cookies... Bench Cookie™ Work Grippers!) Junkologie ran a Junk Potluck contest, with prizes for the most creative presentation of your food on, shall we say, "repurposed" material! Keep an eye on the Junkologie blog for the announcement and pictures of the winners for that!
The JunkMarket contributors are already beginning to post projects made from their Oronoco finds – in fact, the first project, from Lani Lorsung, uses Rockler clock parts! We've said it before: junkers and Rockler - we go together! Create with Confidence!
