SKIL has a new line of routers — the 1817, 1827 and 1830 — which the company is touting as offering “professional features at an affordable, DIY price.” All three routers in the line feature SoftStart™ Technology, microfine adjustment for precise depth measurements and an LED SiteLight™ for improved visibility. They also have soft-grip handles, a dual-position On/Off switch and half-inch collet capacity with a quarter-inch collet adapter. The Model 1817 is a 1-3⁄4hp fixed-base router, priced at $69.99; the 1827 is a 2hp plunge base router with variable speed, depth rod and adjustable turret for repeatable plunging applications. It’s priced at $89.99. The Model 1830 is a 2-1⁄4hp combo kit with both fixed and plunge bases, variable speed, depth rod and adjustable turret. The 1830 is priced at $109.99.
