I'm very impressed by the quality of this tool. However, I'm disimpressed by the fact that the gauge with several loose accessory parts does not come with a case. The gauge, two points, two screws, two jeweler’s screwdrivers, two batteries, instructions and three zip tight plastic bags come in just a basic toothpaste style cardboard box with a slipcover. The box is ill suited for convenient or long term storage of the gauge, described by the instructions as a "precision instrument", and it's components.

I’m impressed by the heavy duty construction of this pin style marking/mortise gauge with digital display. For my older eyes, the digital display is large, over 2” wide with ½” high numbers. The digital beam, fence and pin are massive. Unlike with my Marples wooden gauge, the stainless steel beam is not subject to humidity, the digital display eliminates measuring and the pin cutter can be seen when marking a line thus allowing you to start/stop the line at an exact point. Like all pin gauges, it is best suited for marking a line parallel to the grain or on end grain. The pointed pin cuts an incised reference line for a chisel. An included second pin can be easily attached anywhere along the digital beam to convert the tool from a marking gauge to a mortise gauge. I have not tried it yet, but a third pin attaches under the display to convert the tool to a digital divider for marking a radius or circle. Overall, it’s a great addition to my growing collection of digital tools.
