- Kreg™ Precision Miter Gauge System
Overview
Positive stops at 0°, 10°, 22-1/2°, 30° and 45° - and micro-adjustability to 1/100° - give you speed, repeatability and the same accuracy that machine shops strive for! Add to that the perfect, repeatable dimensions you'll get from the precision flip stop, and you can say "goodbye" to mitered joint gaps forever.
Features:
- Factory calibrated and accurate right out of the box
- Micro-adjusts to 1/100th of a degree (.003" over 6") - the same accuracy as the best machinist squares
- Vernier scale allows precise angle adjustments to 1/10th of a degree
- Precision flipstop precisely measures distance from the blade; curved face self-elevates to bypass the stop
- Precision 24" long, 3/4" aluminum bar contains five bar adjusters to eliminate play in the miter slot
- Fits both standard and T-track slots

Is there an extension for this miter gauge?
DENNIS S
on Dec 27, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I don't know if there is any specifically made Kreg extension for the miter gauge. However it is not difficult to make a strip of wood that will slide in the same slot as the protractor portion. Use a couple of wood screws with the points ground off as set screws to hold it in place. You will probably need to make your own stop that attaches to this extension. If you want to extend the blade that fits on the miter slot so you can cross cut a wider piece of wood that's a different story. The aluminum blade is quite flexible and weak feeling, I don't think it should be extended at all. Better to make a sled for extra wide stock. William Ng has a great You Tube video about how to make one.

If you really have that long a piece to cut, then I would suggest a miter-saw would be the better solution. The arm on this already extends just over the left edge of my saw so anything longer would be unsupported. For me, I would switch over to a miter-saw for cutting longer stock. If I had to nibble tenons on really long stock, then not sure what I would do - this makes tenons on up to 48" stock a breeze, but longer than that, just supporting the free end would present the challenge.

Dennis,
I'm sorry to inform you that we do not have an extension for this item available. The reason being is that once you go longer then 24" you greatly reduce your ability to maintain accuracy not allowing this to be a precision tool.

Very accurate.
Fits nicely in the track. The adjustments are fine enough to get a good fit. The instructions were easy to follow. Great upgrade.

Best tool on my saw
I always thought a miter gauge was a miter gauge. The one that came on my contractor saw plus a wood extension was just fine, right?
Today I don't know how any cut I ever made could have been for-sure square (and I know many were not quite). This Kreg is rock solid, dead-on square when I want it to be, and cuts are dead-on repeatable with the stop on it. Not a wiggle or a wobble to be had. It arm on it is so long, I know my workpieces are well supported all the way out.
Very solid construction (I dropped it 7 feet to a concrete floor by accident, it didn't twist or flex a thing). My heart was in my throat until I checked it out.
This is, to me, the most accurate and indispensable tool on the saw. It has replaced the miter saw for several cuts I used to make there, and my crosscut sled sees a lot less work. I know nibbling away tenons will be perfect now. No telling what other chores I'll find work better with this outstanding gauge on my saw. Worth every dime and then some.

High precision, low cost
I am so glad I got this version instead of the basic one. The extra features make this very flexible and so much more useful. It is heavily built, the machining and finish make it a pleasure to use. I especially like the vernier scale for fine adjustment of miter angles. Hard to believe it is this good for the price. Absolutely recommend it regardless of woodworker's skill.

Bought for my Hitachi CF10 table...
Bought for my Hitachi CF10 table saw. Once set up with the easy to understand instructions, this miter gauge is dead on accurate. Previously I always struggled with making perfectly sized mitered corners at my miter saw with a laser guide - my measurements almost always ended up a micro-fraction off resulting in miter corners with gaps. The Kreg Miter Gauge is worth its weight in gold for it's dead on accuracy both in perfect 45 degree miters and in consistant measurements cut time after time after time. After having my Kreg M.G. if I ever had to replace it, knowing what I know now, I'd gladly pay double it's current price tag.

Great product. Mine had a few little issues, but nothing that warranted less stars. The plastic inserts (which control play in the t-slot) did not easily thread into the unit. there was some aluminum still left in one hole from machining. Once you set it up properly the thing is deadly accurate, which is good when you need things to line up properly. I like the large handle, and of course the color. Easy to read scale is a plus.

Very well made, but not great for small table saws
Well made and feels like good quality. The angle adjustment is great and you can take out the play on the miter track easily with the included hardware. Unfortunately, it is heavy on the end and you really need a larger tablesaw for it to make sense. I run a DeWalt job site saw, which is very popular for folks with small shops, and unless you have support on the left side of the table you will have trouble stabilizing it to a reasonable degree. Too much of the arm hangs off the side, and because it's well made and heavy, it creates wobble and uncertainty when holding your pieces to cut.

Great for Basic Work, but Don't Get Fancy
I like this miter gauge, but I don't love it. The gauge is good and accurate, with very little flex. The inability to easily attach a sacrificial fence for box joints is rather frustrating. I like to get creative with the joints and this fence doesn't play well with that. It's a good fence. For what I need, I probably wouldn't buy it again. That being said, it is worth the money for basic things.

Great miter gauge but the instructions...
Great miter gauge but the instructions leave a bit to be desired for those of us who have their main guage slot on the right side of the blade. If you have one like mine, you need to hold off on using hte stick-on measuring tape until you've completed all the assembly. The flip block won't be anywhere near the indication on the tape. Kreg just assumes all table saws have their guage on the left side of the blade until much later in the instructions. Other than that, it's a great product.

I am very pleased with the Kreg miter gauge that I recently bought from Rockler. The order was processed & shipped promptly. I used it to cut some picture frame pieces and was impressed by the accuracy of the cuts. My eye sight isn't as sharp as it used to be so the locking pin device is a great time -saving feature when cutting miters. It is much more accurate than my compound sliding miter saw.

so-so
needs seriously more attention to the miter slot.
flat 10x32x5/8 set screws are so loose in the miter bar they basically fall out with vibration.
I replaced with dome ended set screws, modified with a 540 degree wrap of teflon plumber tape to secure.
nylon tipped set screws would be superior, but there's a dearth of 5/8 in that style.
nice piece of aluminum; lacking in attention to detail.

Set-up was straight forward and easy....
Set-up was straight forward and easy. By all outward appearances, this thing is a beauty. Unfortunately, once used on the table saw, I was disappointed. The flip stop is buffered by a plastic plug so it has a tendency to flex against the bolt making exactly repeated cuts a "Near miss". I have also noticed quite a bit of play on the actual fence as well as the stepped stops with the brass plug. I can square it up manually every time I set the angle, but this goes against purchasing and using a stepped precision miter. One still will have to battle the fence when it comes to cutting angles as well as being at a 90 angle to the table. This last piece is in reference to the plastic gliders the miter runs on. They save the table from scratches, but keep the fence from lying flat thus knocking off the square to the table top.

This miter gauge is very accurate...
This miter gauge is very accurate and beautifully made except for one important problem, the t-slot bar is aluminum and has too much flex. I bought this miter gauge to dado slots in the sides of a chest of drawers because I was getting some flex with the miter gauge that came with my Delta Contractor table saw and has a steel bar. When I saw that the flex was worse with this one I put it aside and went back to the original. It should be fine for smaller pieces that do not stress it as much.

This miter gauge is certainly a...
This miter gauge is certainly a step up from a standard miter gauge that comes with most tablesaws however it could be much better for the price range. The assembly was straight forward. After having set it up yesterday and using it for the first project there are a few things that were a bit annoying. The first issue is that the actual miter bar that fits in the slot of the saw is aluminum rather than steel. It seems to have a fair amount of flex to it. Not good when you are mitering 6" wide 8/4 stock. The method used to take up the side slack in the miter bar to the miter slot of the saw are small nylon screws which I thought would be fine. The trouble with them is that they protrude from the side of the bar and hang up on the edge of the table when sliding in. A spring loaded ball detent would be a better solution to keep it from hanging on the table. Another annoyance was that when clamping the workpiece to the fence, it can be a bit annoying since the fence is L-shaped and your clamp has to go under the L lip of the fence on the back side. So far it seems to be accurate if you are careful with the flexing. Overall impression, not bad but not great either.

Too simplistic
My experience with the original AND with a replacement "quadrant" was not good. The brass locator pin routinely gauled in the aluminum quadrant. A more appropriate resolution would be to make the holes larger and press in some jig bushings of steel. Should stop the gauling issue. I've returned mine and replaced it.
