I purchased the Large Toggle Clamp Foot to provide a larger clamping area, more friction and hopefully less chance of pressure damage to soft woods.

Does the rubber foot on the bottom come off? I need to put on a 7" bolt.
Edward M
on Jun 4, 2017
BEST ANSWER: No. The bolt is attached (glued?) to a ball which fits into a recess in the rubber foot. It is kind of like a hip joint with the bolt playing the role of the femur. I just had a look and there is no obvious way to remove the rubber foot.

The foot is connected to the bolt via a ball and socket with the socket in the foot, and the ball appears to be molded onto the bolt. Short answer - No.

No. I just checked my 6" toggle clamp foot. The bolt does not unscrew from the plastic (it is not rubber) foot.

Oops!
I thought "large" meant length not width. My bad. My clamps require 1/4" bolt width and this is 5/16". I'm going to try modify the clamp opening with a 5/16" drill bit then tap it. If that doesn't work, I'll buy a 5/16" clamp. One way or another, I'll use it.

I bought this clamp foot to use on a shop made panel cutting jig for the table saw. It allows me to mount the toggle clamp on the fence that is part of the jig and then clamp any thickness of board in the jig while I saw it. Works perfectly.

Take care when using these 6" clamps
These are sufficiently long to use them on tall stands. They can be set to lock down 5 1/2" boards and still be able to reach down to hold very thin boards on jigs. However the extended length can and will swing back if you are not careful to note how far back it goes before you begin to use it.
