Does not turn easely, and is noisy. Is it defective, whatever is the screw on the side for?
Gordon R
on Mar 4, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I thought the screw on the side of the frame was a locking screw. It is not. I believe it adjusts the side pressure on the bearings. If you made the same mistake I did and rotated the screw fully counterclockwise, it allows the bearings to travel too freely, causing noise and excess friction. To correct, turn the screw fully clockwise until tight and rotate several turns. If the travel is not smooth, turn the screw very slightly (maybe 1/16 turn) counter clockwise, and rotate several turns again. I was able to get the travel back to about as smooth as when I took it out of the wrapper with one such adjustment. Rockler really should indicate that this screw is not for user adjustment on the product packaging. Alternatively, the manufacturer should lock the screw at the factory if it does not need further adjustment. Note that I did my adjustment without any load on the bearings. I may need to adjust it again once I get the rotating table assembled and loaded.

Could this support a 54" diameter platform?
Kitty H
on Nov 22, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I happen to have an engineering background and the answer to your question is not related to the Lazy Susan as it can support 330 LB. the issue is about the stability of the turntable - in order for the turn table to be stable with FOOD on it, it should have a radius of at LEAST 50% of the rotating table. that still would not guaranty stability if heavy items are placed on the perimeter of the rotating plate.
it looks to me that you might need a custom made unit.
Good Luck

It really depends on what you are putting on the lazy Susan. How much would it weigh, how tall would the platform be from the Lazy Susan. And would it be balanced? Otherwise, I though the heavy duty Lazy Susan worked fine for me. I had a 36 inch diameter, six foot high tower that did not weigh that much. It worked great for me.

It should, as long as the heaviest objects are closer to the center. If it's for a large dining table, it might help to add rollers or some kind of plastic skids at the perimeter, to prevent it causing stress to the lazy Susan.
Will this remain in place constantly, or would it be removed, occasionally?

Worked out well
I bought this for a specialty project. A client wanted a 1' tall table that a little girls dollhouse would sit on. They wanted the top to rotate 360 degrees so she could play on both sides of the house without having to walk around the table. So I used this hardware for the rotation. I wanted to use something heavy duty because the table top and the dollhouse combined are around 80 lbs. also I'm sure the girl would be leaning on the table top. So this worked out very well and was nice and smooth when rotating. I would highly recommend. It does not come with mounting screws, obviously because rockler has not idea what thickness or material you are mounting to. So just make sure you don't expect the mounting screws. Great product

I wanted a three foot lazy susan for my dining room table. The ones I found were quite expensive. I found this hardware and was not sure if it was what I wanted, but the other reviews made it sound like this was the right thing. I bought a 36 inch table top from a hardware store, sanded and stained it and put this 17 inch lazy susan hardware on it. I could not be more happy. It really does hold a lot of weight and is very smooth. I can't wait for Thanksgiving.

We have a glass front upper...
We have a glass front upper corner cabinet in the kitchen where I wanted to display antique casseroles. We were concerned that any lazy susan would take up too much space and limit the number of shelves we could use. These were SO nice and thin! We managed to get five levels in the 33" opening and they spin so easily! When my husband saw them he was concerned that they were too cheap and flimsy, but was really impressed by how well they work and the weight they can hold. Inexpensive-yes. Cheaply made-no!

I ordered 4 SLIMLINE lazy susans...
I ordered 4 SLIMLINE lazy susans 9 years ago when I remodeled my kitchen. I had one of those kitchen corner cabinets where everything gets lost in the back. I did not want the four shelf lazy susan on a pole because there is too much wasted air space. Instead, I ordered the cabinet with 4 shelves and purchased the slimline lazy susan from Rockler and round shelves from another cabinet supply house. This setup allows use of the shelf space on the sides of each round shelf. I was concerned at first because the slimline is so thin I did not think it would work. I wanted to have the least amount of space wasted, so I thought I'd give it a try. The slimline was easy to install and has worked well for me. There is a lot of weight on each shelf with 5 lb. bags of sugar and bottles of marinades as well as glassware for cooking. I have never had a problem with this item and would recommend it highly. My shelves spin as well today as they did when installed 9 years ago. My daughter recently purchased a home with one of the dreaded corner cabinets. I gave her the slimline lazy susans and round shelves for Christmas. With the easy directions and the fact that these slimline lazy susans take up little space, I am sure that she will be very satisfied with this product.

I was not sure of the...
I was not sure of the load abilities when I received it but figured I would give it a shot anyway. I built a cabinet that looks like a doll house that has a mirror on one side, and cubbies and drawers on the other side. About 2 foot square, and 4 and a half foot tall. And made out of scrap 3/4" MDF I had in the garage. This was to house my 5 year old daughters play clothes and shoes, and provide a full length mirror just by swinging it around. This thing is heavy being made of MDF! Even loaded with clothes, shoes and play jewelry, my 5 year old daughter is able to swing it around and access all her stuff, then swing it back around to use the mirror. She loves it, and I love the lazy susan! Very heavy duty, and for what I am using it for very thin! I will buy this again due to I now have 4 orders from friends that want one of these cabinets for their kids. I think I wont use MDF next time! If you are worried about your load on this item. I would guess my cabinet with all stuff and the hardware and mirror would be around 200-250lbs or so and works very smooth!

I ordered the 12" Slimline and it is indeed very thin, which is what I needed. It is very well made and the only one like it that I've found. One feature is that it needs to be able to rotate. That is, the black plastic turns at 1/2 the rate of speed of that the turntable turns. That doesn't matter in my application, but it might in some.

I[mistakenly]assumed by the picture that it came with the wooden plate. For the price I think it should be included. The swivel is great, I made it work by buying a wood plate. I used a 24" premade table top from my [local building supply home center]

Lazy Susan, Heavey duty swivel
The swivel works well and rotates smoothly once adjusted. The adjustment is easily done.
The only problem I found was the stand offs are hard nylon which might mar any wood surface that it is placed on.

I built a 20" diameter lazy suzan for my dining room table. I originally bought a Slimline lazy suzan for $12, but didn't like that it has to be sandwiched between a base and the rotating top part. This one is very sturdy, and does not require a base. It's nearly an inch high, but I routed a circular slot to recess it into my piece with about 1/8" clearance from the table. Worked like a charm.

I am a custom furniture builder. I purchased this [aluminum]turntable for a gun cabinet. The company needs to put instructions in the package. I had to build an insert to hold the turntable in position as there is no screw holes in the race to hold it in one position. For what it is, it is too expensive.

My wife's hobby is creating buildings using Legos. I put her base on a [slimline] lazy susan so she could easily turn the project to work on different sides. This product works ok, but is a bit expensive for what it is. Also, be aware your wood needs to be at lease 1/2" thick, no 7/16" plywood, because of the mounting hardware.

I was disappointed that it [item #78683] didn't come with a race. I thought all I had to do was to mount some rubber feet on the unit and attach it to the lazy susan board. I didn't understand that I would have to supply another support for the product to go underneath.

Loud and sticks
Order it for a 20" lazy susan. Unfortunately the swivel/bearing sticks and it's very loud (can barely hear folks talk around the table when it's being used); disappointed.

Purchased the lazy susan slimline. Quality product. However, it does not work with a granite lazy susan as it does not spin with the granite top. The granite fabricator agreed it would not work and recommended I order a different style. I am purchasing another lazy susan part from Rockler in hopes that it will work with the granite piece.

I was very disappointed in the...
I was very disappointed in the SLIMLINE version of these lazy susans. They require a VERY smooth and level surface, and do not work at all well when I tried to use them for built-in revolving shelves in a corner cabinet. The cabinet bottom is not quite level, and the plywood I used for the shelf is not smooth enough, nor dimensionally stable enough. I was trying to maintain as much vertical clearance as possible, but I had to revert to the conventional lazy susan to overcome these issues. I expect the slimline version would work better with a smooth, hard, and level surface.
