I found these fastners to work...

Thomas W from Dillsburg, PA Posted March 15, 2011
I found these fastners to work very well and secure the side rails firmly to the posts. They are superior to the types I used in the past. I like the idea of the locking tab, especially for a child's bed where they might crawl under and accidently release a conventional rail.

Went a year without a footboard,...

Went a year without a footboard, because the rails to our bed set had become dammaged. I came across this website, found these rail brackets, and made my own rails. Absolutely wonderful. I will be back for my next projects.

Pretty good, could be better

Little Bill Posted April 5, 2014
I bought this hardware to finish off some beds for two of my grandchildren. I rate it a solid four. It could be a five star product if a couple of things were better. The finish was flaky, with bare metal showing through in places. And why are there no screws? I understand that different projects can call for different screw lengths, but there are minimums that need to be observed, and they are certainly adequate for just about anything these rails will go on. I'd pay a little more so I don't have to run around looking for the correct size (or color).

The hardware is well made, and locks up solidly when the bed is assembled. I was a little concerned about getting a good fit that also looked nice with the double mortise that needs to be done, but I found that a 1 1/4" Forstner bit will do very nicely for the rounded edges, and a 1/4" plunge bit in the router provides almost all the other room needed for the hooks. A drill or chisel serves to clear out that last little bit needed for the locking lever. I suppose there is some metric Forstner bit that would make the recess a little tighter fitting, but I used the one I had on hand and it was fine. I have more grandchildren, and anticipate the arrival of even more, so I suspect I will be buying more of these in the future. Maybe they will be improved by then.
