Great tool if....

Al Posted July 27, 2014
It's true that using the tray and trying to drive the v-nails in without the front of the frame opening is time wasted - it doesn't work.

My opinion though is that the v-nails add great strength to a glued miter joint, so I found a work around. I use a band clamp to glue up my frames first, let them dry for an hour and THEN drive the v-nails with this tool - without using the tray. Simply lay the now "assembled" frame down on the base. line up the nail with the joint and drive them in. works every time. I've made many many frames this way.

wasted my money

I wish I had gone to Amazon first and read the reviews there. People had the same problem I have, it's almost impossible to close the front of the frame after nailing. There is at least a 1/64 " gap. I bought this with the intent of doing about 15 to 20 frames a week to sell, the assembled quality of this framer in my opinion makes this unlikely. Absolutely do not buy this product unless you love being frustrated with inferior quality. I am thinking about buying the quick release clamp and using that with the Logan joiner.
I hope that works.
