I only used the brass tip for my 18th century cane but it is just what I needed and it works just as I thought it would.
Good versatile hardware

I have used these on several walking sticks and they work perfectly. The option to have the point is great when you don 't have sidewalks.

I used this kit to make a cane the night before I traded in a hip for a newer model. After a week or so with a walker, I started using the cane, so it has been used about 3 1/2 weeks. The hardware’s finish was and is still good. The rubber tip works well. It did have a tendency to unscrew due to my twisting the cane. A drop of LocTite took care of this. The instructions don’t emphasize the desirability of turning the end as a tenon, that is, stepped down from the main part of the shaft, so that there is a smooth line from the wood to the end of the brass.
