I chose this bit holder because it does two essential things. (Hopefully. I will let you know:)
First; it holds the bit in place.
Second; it has strong magnets to hold the screw on.

I bought one a year or so ago and it works great, serious magnetic holding power. I often run two drills at once, so I bought a second.

I bought two of these a few years ago, I lost one and the remaining one is finally wearing out. It is the best bit holder I have used in over 40 years in business.

i recently purchased this bit holder and was very impressed with the magnetic strength, it was exactly what i needed. however the second week of use
i discovered the ring magnet began breaking into small pieces. i use a dewalt 18 v. impact driver with 2.5" drywall screws in 2x4's. is this unit made for impact drivers?

BEST ANSWER: I can't speak for the manufacturer, but I suspect that the magnetic material is a sintered magnet, which aren't very strong and are very brittle (most rare earth magnets are made sintered material then plated) and not really suitable for the "hammering" effect that the impact driver imparts.

unfortunately this bit holder is not meant to be use with any impact drill, the magnet is very strong but after a couple days of use it crumbles into pieces.

Works very well
Used it to screw 5+ pounds of 2 1/2 inch deck screws with very few wobbly lost screws. Magnet that holds the screw is very strong. Only works with 1 inch bits. Works better than any other magnetic screw holder I have ever used, would certainly purchase again if needed.

Worth the price!!
This tool is the best one I've used to date. The inexpensive ones don't hold the bit as well as this one, the magnet doesn't hold as well and as with one major brand, I had to put it in a vise or hold it with a hand tool while using another hand tool on the bit to remove it from the holder. This tool has none of those problems for me.

Hi Power magnetic bit holder
Works very well. Highly magnetic so it holds bits very well. Couldn't do without it in tight quarters or when driving small screws.

Have been doing some deck work....
Have been doing some deck work. Using long screws the VERY STRONG magnet kept the screw in a horizontal position without falling. I have a few other similar, but none had the strength to hold long screws horizontal. I may add the flexible version in the not too distant future.

This is the best bit holder...
This is the best bit holder that I have ever used. I wish I could thank Michael from San Diego personally. Without his review, I don't know If I would have bought it. For years, I have been using a bit holder that has a small ball bearing and a sleeve that slides to hold the bit in place. After awhile, the ball bearing would get worn and it wouldn't hold the bit anymore. Off to the store to buy another. The magnet on my old holder was not that great and the screw would fall off. With this holder, I shook my drill as hard as I could and the screw was still there....awesome!!! Another problem that I have had with other bit holders is that the bit would stay with the screw. SO FAR SO GOOD With this holder. The description on this bit holder did not explain the sleeve very well. The sleeve on the holder slides forward just far enough to touch the screw. It looks similarly to a drywall dimplier. If you want to change bits, you simply slide the sleeve back to expose the bit for changing. One of my friends and I worked together for years using different types of bit holders, trying to find the perfect one. I can't wait to send him one of these. The search is finally over!!

After forty years in cabinet making...
After forty years in cabinet making here is San Diego, I think I am in love once again. Sorry wife. I know I love you with all my heart but this little tool is the best thing to come along for all types of work and it make life just a little bit "un-frustrating" It is the best bit holder of any other kind for any price. I no longer get frustrated at dropping screws and having to go after them. The magnetic pull is absolutely true to the advertising. Love it lots!

A MUCH BETTER BUT HOLDER
Finally, a much better magnetic bit holder. This device is just the right size for most screw lengths.
It is a wee made device. However, I gave it four stars due to the slide-locking action of the slide (which is stiff).

It says super magnetic but when I use it with square bit from rockler (a good one) every screw I drive in it slides out.

magnetic bit holder
This product did not perform well at all. The magnet is so weak that bits stay in the screw head instead of in the holder. The longer the bit, the worse it works. I found a DeWalt bit at Lowes for the same price that works much better.
