I need number 43499 which is the number that was on the box that the Rockler 1/2 inch chisel came in without the handle. On the Rockler Internet the chiselô needs the handle that is number 43610. So are they the same or different?

Everyone with a power morticer should have a handle
Alows you to square up round holes in several situations. For example, to square up a mortice made with a router. You could make this, but why bother. Spend the time making furniture.

A Clever Tool
The mortising attachment I have does not fit my Delta benchtop drill press, so I was forced to drill and chisel out the 16 mortises for my first mortise and tennon table project. This handle together with straight chisels and the square chisels from my mortise attachment made easy work of the marking and cleanout of the 16. A great innvation and a clever idea!

I purchased this about 2 months...
I purchased this about 2 months ago and put it in a drawer and promptly forgot about it. While cutting mortises on a wine rack this weekend I remembered this and broke it out for the first time. First off, the feel of this in the hand is very nice. It is hefty with a nice finish and just feels good. It did its job well. My drill press leaves a lot to be desired. The slop in the column makes for a rather crooked line. I was able to clean up the mess quickly. After all was said and done I had well-fitted mortise and tenon joints, probably the best I've ever done. I can't ask for better than that.

Nearly mortised my foot!
I inserted the proper sized mortise chisel into the handle and tighter up the grub screw. It seemed fine. Then I picked up the handle and the entire chisel and attacked mounting insert fell out of the handle. It appeared that there had been either no adhesive or too little adhesive used in constructing the unit. So, I pulled out my trusty epoxy adhesive and securely mounted the adaptor into the handle. Better check the rest of your handles.

Mortise Chisel Handle
Handle came apart after first use. I used epoxy to repair it, it has been ok since then.

Loose collet
Collet came loose from the handle after 2 minutes. Small single line of glue was used. Will probably be fine once I reglue it.

Cheaply made
I purchased this handle to work with a 1/2" mortise chisel. Out of the box, the metal insert was improperly seated in the wooden handle and was glued in with something that surely didn't work. It required work on my part to correct the problem so I gave it a 2 star. Once fixed, it works as expected.
