Concerning another review... if the refill doesn't work, REPLACE it! Simple solution. One bad refill does not make for a bad set of components. The other complaint in the reviews over bit sizes confounds me as well. The size of drill bit literally has nothing to do with the quality of this pen. This is a beautiful pen, the size (bits and bushings) are the same as the Navigator and Baron from other vendors but without the faceted section, which is a win for Rockler in my opinion. Black Titanium is one of the most durable plating options available and looks very classy on this pen.
Stay away from this pen

Made this pen for a Christmas gift for my dad. Looked beatiful when finished. Started to write with it and the ink stopped working with first use.
Drill bits listed in Instructions are too large for brass tubes

The instructions call for one 15/32" drill bit for the top cap and a 10mm bit for the bottom of the pen. We went to the Rockler store after buying them online and switched to a 29/64" for the top and a 25/64"for the bottom of the pen. New bits are properly sized and hold the brass tubes snugly, yet allow enough room for glue.
Kit looks great when completed.

I have probably made 8-10 of the pens. They seem to be great quality and are the perfect size. Not too big and not too small. But just recently I have had two pens returned because the inside threads in the cap has broken. I repaired the first pen by stealing the pen furl from an unopened kit but I don't want to do this again this is too expensive a repair. I love the pen but now a little nervous on selling more.
