Rockler Presents Re-usable Silicone Glue Brush
Silicone Bristles Are Easy to Clean, Leaving the Brush Like New
MEDINA, MN (February 9, 2012) - Glue brushes are often sold in bulk as disposable items because of how quickly the bristles get gummed up. The new Silicone Glue Brush from Rockler has changed all that, with flexible silicone bristles that are easy to clean and a tapered paddle on the opposite end for detailed application. Woodworkers can now depend on a single brush for all their gluing needs. Most cured woodworking glues simply peel and flake right off the Silicone Glue Brush bristles, eliminating the need for instant cleanup and allowing the brush to be used over and over again.
"This is the last glue brush you'll need to buy", said Steve Krohmer, Vice President of product development. "It's very versatile with the silicone bristles on one end and the paddle applicator on the other. It's easy to clean without chemical solvents – even fully dried polyurethane glue cracks and peels right off the bristles – and re-using the brush is also friendly to the environment."
When it’s time for a glue-up, simply riffle the bristles as you would a deck of cards to peel any dried glue off and restore the brush to pristine condition. Unlike traditional brushes, this one won't shed bristles into your bead of glue. The brush is a generous 1" wide with 1/2" depth of bristles which are spaced to hold plenty of wet glue, meaning less time dipping and more time spreading.
Since the brush is designed to last, it provides some additional features as well: the paddle end opposite the bristles can be used like a pen for finer detail work such as mortise and tenon, dovetail, and box joints, or like a spatula for spreading glue into grooves and mortises; the entire brush is waterproof, so rinsing thoroughly with warm water makes cleanup easy when glue is wet.
The Silicone Glue Brush (45624) retails for $3.99. It is available at Rockler Woodworking and Hardware stores nationwide, Rockler independent resellers, Rockler.com, or in the Rockler catalog. For store locations or a free catalog, please visit www.rockler.com or call 1-877-ROCKLER.
