Excellent Clamps

Joseph Posted January 17, 2015
I think these clamps are the best I have used. They compare equally with the Bessey's of the same size. I like the face on the Jets clamps better as it is larger, but I like to softer face on the Bessey's and noted that with high clamp pressure, I dented the wood on a recent kitchen island project with the Jets requiring me to plane it out. All in all, the best clamps for larger pieces requiring significant clamping pressure.

Better than Bessey

Extremely well built and easy to use; the grips are better than Bessey and they operate way better than Bessey. I was a Bessey man for years...not any more!

quality control issue - bars may be twisted or bent

David Posted August 30, 2014
I returned the first set that I bought. Three out of the four clamps were difficult to operate because the long metal bars were not truly straight. At first inspection its not overly noticeable until you try to slide the jaws. On a clamp with a straight bar the jaws slide without much effort. However on clamps with slight twists or bends in them, it requires a bit of effort to slide the bars. Becomes frustrating.
I exchanged the first set for a second set. The second set was not perfect either. Two out of the four bars had slight twists or bends in them. In this case the two 40" bars were straight but the two 24" bars had the slight deviations. I decided to keep this set as at least the longer bars were straight in this batch. With the shorter bars I figured I wouldn't be sliding the jaws as far.
I originally decided to go with these Jet parallel clamps due to the release handle. I figured this would make them easier to operate than Bessey clamps while retaining more grip then other clamping systems that do not utilize gripping teeth along the bar. However in use this handle doesn't really make things operate any easier, especially when you have bars that are not straight to begin with.
This product had a lot of promise but did not live up to my expectations. It's still reasonably functional though. Just carefully inspect the bars for straightness if you purchase. Exercise the jaws and make sure they slide to your satisfaction.
