I wasn't ready to fork out the cash for the full pressurized face shield yet, regular dust masks caused my safety glasses to fog up and without a mask I would start coughing fits. Power Air Respirator Replacement Cartridge
I do a lot of fine sanding that generates a tremendous amount of powdery dust. We have a Jet air filtration system and I wear a Dust Bee Gone mask but I still feel dust on my lips and in my nostrils. I am a woman with a fairly small face and the Dust Bee Gone mask doesn't come in a small and there are many gaps. Will this power air respirator be small enough to fit my face?

BEST ANSWER: I am a 5"2" 130lb woman. The respirator was too long for my face and I had to return it. The top half fit fine, but the bottom extended too far past my face to create a seal. I use the blue Dust Bee Gone mask and have the same problem with some dust getting through.

I am about 5 ft 5 inch so I guess that make me on the short side and weigh about 150 pounds.
The mask of the power respirator is a soft and pliable rubberized material that fits comfortaably over my face/nose and easily contour to my face.
Of special note arre the straps that fit on the back of your neck and a loop band at the top of your head that firmly secures the mask to your face. Straps are infinatel adjustable as well as strechable and are made from a band that is wide enough to do the job but not so narrow as to pinch you.
Regarding filtration - what a great mask! I don't recall the price for the filters I just bought a bunch at the time it didnt seem expensive. I grind and sand/buff metal parts that I weld and I can attest to the fact that I get no contamination from metal parts. The filter removes the particles(very fine almost powdery) spects of metal. Another bonus of the mask is you arfe getting cool fresh air. There are 2 speeds so take your pick. The fan is a little on the noisy side.. but when I am grinding I can not hear the motor until I stop grinding. Battery life is pretty good. The price may seem steep but to save your lungs... well it is priceless! Enjoy.

This mask should fit your face just fine. I have a long narrow face and mask is comfortable. Other masks I've worn do not seal against my face because of my beard. This fan powered mask keeps a constant pressure that eliminates dust from entering between mask and beard when I inhale. Hope this is helpful. Mike

BEST ANSWER: Rick,
The "Power Air Respirator" is great for airborne minute particulates, such as dust or working a wood lathe, I would not recommend it for the blasting medium you are using. Try instead Rockler's "Airshield Pro," a full shield air system that will completely encapsulate your face and beard. Being bearded myself, that's the way to go.

What is the smallest particle this will filter? The NIOSH-approved P100 filters on some other face masks (for example, the 3M 7500) filter 99.7% of particles 0.3 microns and above, which is where you want to be health-wise.

Thanks for the reply. I did a bit more research and the Rockler power respirator has a P1 rating, a European system that signifies an 80% removal or particulates (no minimum size given). So your choice is a good one. The Elipse has a P100 filter that removes 99.7% of stuff >= 0.3 microns.

Respirator Actually Works
This respirator works far greater than any mask would work. By pumping filtered air into the face piece, and building up a positive pressure inside the face piece, virtually all of the dust is removed from your breathing. My only negative comment is the way the mask fits over the bridge of my nose. But, that is probably due to the size of my nose.

Great quality, Great value
This masks makes mowing grass and woodworking easier for my husband who has COPD. He used to refuse to wear a mask because he couldn't get enough air. With this mask if pumps fresh air right into the mask!!

Power Air Respirator
I have found this respirator to be useful to me in my woodworking shop. Most respirators have the old push/pull breathing units with the valves that open and close for air. These are very tiresome and I can't seem to get enough air.
This power air unit lets you breath easy without having to force breathe.
The air is cool and lets me work longer in the shop. I just wish the plastic around the bridge of the nose was softer to make it more comfortable.
For the size and price I would have to say it's a good unit. I was skeptical at first but warmed up to it. I wonder how long the 4 AA batteries will run.

COPD and lawn mowing dust
I have COPD and mowing my 2 acre yard gave me issues due to the dust. I use the paper masks, the surgery masks and I then bought 2 large dual filter masks. The small masks allowed dust to penetrate. The dual mask where to hard to draw air into my lungs. I purchased the Power air respirator and have use it twice. Excellent results!! The fan drawing in filtered air worked perfectly. I had no followup dust issues the next day. I recommend this to anyone with medical lung issues and to anyone in a dusty environment.

Does the trick
This is a mask that I will actually use, unlike many others lying around my equipment. I have not had trouble using it with both goggles and ear protectors. I have not had it long enough to tell how long batteries will last, but I'm glad I bought it and would recommend it to others. I have not used more intense masks, but I think this is the right amount of protection for the projects I work on.

Save your lungs!
I love it! Wear it comfortably with glasses and a Harbour Freight face shield and ear muffs.. Totally shocked at the amount of dust stuck to the prefilter, that would have gone in my lungs.. I have mild COPD and this mask has saved me from abandoning my woodworking hobby....

Keeps dust out
Have used this on a couple of messy jobs. This is essential to keeping your lungs clear. Some have had problems with eyeglasses interfering. I can see where it would be a problem for some styles, but mine fit right down on the nose piece with no problem

I love this mask
I wear glasses and behind the ear hearing aids. The mask and straps do not interfere one bit. I find the mask easy to put on and adjust with the simple included clip. The filtration seems good for sanding and turning. I have stopped using my turners shield as the mask deflects chips. I do wear safety glasses. Turned a lot last fall and ended up with copd. Learned my lesson the hard way. When done sanding I leave the mask on for a bit so the shop filters have time to clean the air.

Inexpensive, when you compare results with price.
Really good experience with this
device. I have COPD with emphasima and use a CPAP machine for sleeping and napping. This device simulates a portable CPAP machine.

Very comfortable
I was concerned about it interfering with my glasses, but it wasn't an issue. The rubber is very comfortable & the difference the fan makes is unbelievable. An added benefit that I didn't expect is when I turned buffalo horn on my lathe, normally a pretty stinky event, I didn't smell anything!

4 years running and I'm very happy. About the glasses issue...
i bought this almost 4 years ago and it is still running fine. The issue with glasses depends on both nose size and the size and shape of the frame. I don't wear my nice glasses in the shop, they just won't hold up. I have a cheaper pair in my prescription for the shop, and made sure it was not large, and had a fairly rectangular shape, just over an inch high. This clears the mask's nose piece nicely. Take the mask to your eye doctor and have the optician find a frame that stays out of the way. My shop glasses don't have any special coatings and is made of safety glass material so I don't have to worry about shattering. Love the mask, but though others might appreciate how to handle the glasses issue.

Power ventilator saves my lungs!
I grind/sand/buff metal objects I have welded. There are metal particles over most surfaces in my worksop. I have used various masks that are fairly effective yet I am still left with particles in my nose and mouth.
Using the power ventilator has been a life saver. I get no particles in my nose/mouth and also get constant fresh air into the mask. There are two seperate speeds for ventilation. The mask is soft and pliable and fits comfortably over my face. There are two seperate straps that are infinately adjustable and the bands are also strechable. The filters for the mask are inexpensive(10 per pack) and last a fairly long time,(amount of contamination will decrease the life of the filter..). Battery life is fairly good. I suspect lithium/alkaline will last much longer. The motor is a bit loud but when I am sanding/grinding I can not hear the motor until I stop working. The power ventilator is a good investment and I feel it is an essential workshop tool!

I liked it so much I bought won for my brother
I have used this mask for 4 years and really live it. I have copd @ asthma . I also have injuries in the neck so I can handle much weight on my head. This mask is lightweight and fits over my beard. It supplies plenty of clean air while I'm sanding or running of my many sawdust makers. I really love this mask so I purchased one for my Brother who has much worse breathing problems than I do. For the money its a great deal and keeps the dust out.

Worth the money
Overall I'm extremely happy with this product. It's much better then my previous 3M which I never use due to air flow restriction. This product feeds a nice steady flow of cool air inside the mask allowing you many hours to continuous use. I bought this just before I started my built in cabinet and shelve project knowing I'll be cutting a lot of MDF boards for the shelves. I was able to wear this the whole day while doing all my cuts without any issue. As some have mentioned, it is hard to wear glasses over this mask. I've tried 3 different types and none would fit properly. I ended up just resting the glasses over the nose piece and hopes it would stay, it's better then not having anything project my eyes.

I almost did not purchase this...
I almost did not purchase this mask based on a couple of reviewers comments regarding problems with wearing glasses and using the mask. I have had no problems wearing my glasses or fogging issues that I have had with traditional dust masks. I work quite a bit with cedar and cypress both in planing and sawing operations. This mask really works!

Love this thing, had it 2...
Love this thing, had it 2 years. Positive air pressure, constant flow of filtered air keeps dust out, period. The air also flows out and keeps my glasses from fogging-a bonus. Very comfortable to wear while working and it doesn't interfere with my glasses. Keep rechargeable batteries on hand so it's always ready to go. Best solution to insidious MDF dust. I'm a throat cancer survivor so I take the carcinogen warnings seriously. You can use this mask or cough up sawdust for days after making multiple cuts. I have good dust collection system, but there is no way to stop all dust. Particularly important in a small shop. Get it, you'll love it too.

Wow! I'm amazed at just how good this product is. A friend recommended it and because I was tired of the discomfort of wearing paper masks I thought I'd give it a try. I have asthma and finish sanding has always caused asthmatic issues. I'm very pleased with the filtering and the supply of fresh, cool air regarless of how close I get to the work. I wear eyeglasses but didn't experience any interference from the mask. My lenses are smaller and rectangular shaped, so that may be why I didn't experience any interference problems. I don't have any negative comments for this product (other than it went on sale about a week after my purchase). I wish I had bought one a long time ago.

If your lung health is important...
If your lung health is important to you or your family, this set-up is one of the BEST you will ever find for the money, especially if you have inhalation problems already. The powered fan helps take all that effort of bringing in the air - away, and provides you nice - clean air to breathe. I've had mine for several years now and is still working GREAT!!!

As a fiber sorter who wears glasses, I was having trouble keeping all the dirt and dust out of my lungs and preventing my glasses from fogging while wearing medical masks. A friend recommended I try your respirator. It has been fantastic!! Even sorting on hot humid days, my glasses remain clear and I breathe easier than with the masks. Best of all, no bronchitis since I started using the respirator.

This product is literally a life...
This product is literally a life saver! I was recently diagnosed with COPD and though I might have to give up woodturning. Couldn't stand my respirator so I started looking into the fancy powered helmet system for $400 or more. Then I found this one. Got it yesterday and used it for about two hour last night. What a pleasure to work with. Cool breezing feeding me air. There are valid complaints from people who wear eyeglasses. But I was able to find a comfortable compromise so I could wear mine. I can't stress enough the importance of protecting your lungs. I am sure I have lost 10 year of my life from decades of not wearing a mask. But at least I have stopped the damage and may start some healing, possibly get a few of those years back.

It is fabulous. My problem is significant allergy to some wood dust. The positive air flow makes it bearable to wear the mask all day. Many prior product trials always ended with the mask set aside, inhalation of offensive dust, and days of misery from respiratory problems. I want to do some work on the most, adding padding to help fit to my face- and therefore enhance comfort. Even so, non-stop wearing for hours without condensation on glasses or inside the mask is priceless.

Works great! The positive airflow from the fan makes breathing much easier. With disposable paper masks re-breathing the exhaled air made it very difficult for me to catch my breath. I would be panting after a few minutes of wearing a paper mask. Not a problem with the Rocker mask. Also, the Rockler powered mask does not fog my glasses with warm moist exhaled air, as leaks around the paper masks did. The Rockler mask seals much tighter to my face. Plus, the positive pressure & cool air from the fan makes any leaks (if there are any) of no concern.Wish I had bought one sooner.

Good protection from wood dust
Recommend product for small or home shop. I have a Delta 5100 table saw that has fair dust control (it needs some improvements) so I like extra dust control. I wear glasses and I still haven't gotten a good fit wearing respirator/glasses. Others have mentioned this as well.

OK for light situations
I think for somewhat light situations like sanding etc works reasonably well. Does not cover eyes like a full system like the trend. Does not fit too well under a bubble shield, but OK under a straight face shield. I like it for some uses.

Best remedy so far ...
After adjusting to fit my large head, dust mask is very acceptable. Would like to have a bit more adjustability or a larger strap system for easier use.
Positive air pressure works but only on the " high" setting.
" off" odor while using.
Have yet to " wake up" my allergy to wood dust while sanding or sawing!

Love It
For longer periods of Scrolling and Sanding and finishing it works Great. Takes just a couple extra seconds to take off and put back on my eyeglasses and ear protection. Well worth the time and cost to have it. I am having trouble finding the same filters that came with it when I will need to replace them. Sure they are out there someplace.

Dust mask
I like the dusk mask but it is a little tight for me. I could loosen the straps but then it is not sealed. I also noticed that when I wear the mask and place my hearing protector over it, there is a humming sound. But I can live with those inconveniences. I like the air which is pumped into the mask. I find that I can breathe easier. So I'm satisfied and not sorry I bought it.

Good air flow
very tight fit with good air flow.
Got respirator to use when I am using my cyclone leaf vacuum because of all of the dust that it stirs up.
Because of the tight fit I can't wear my glasses, mite use it when sanding put not for close up work.

It really works
I work in a shop with saws, sanders, routers--the works. Great tools, but really dusty. But keeping a cloth mask on for hours is really uncomfortable. Given the price I was a little doubtful, but fresh air keeps coming into the mask and makes it much more comfortable to do the "right thing" and keep my mask on. 4 stars because one of the straps is so thin it broke the first time I used it. Duct-taped it back together; looks messy but it works.

Works great but eats batteries
This mask is a great addition to my shop. I found that by modifying a cheap set of reading glasses that I wear anyways it solves the problem others mentioned about the nose piece and the glasses not getting along.
It does however eat up the batteries. Invest in some lithium batteries and a charger and you will be much happier. Having 2 or 3 sets of batteries and chargers will make things easier to have a fresh set always ready.
The I found it is cooler for me to remove the disc on the inside as the instructions suggest. A big plus in Louisiana with heat nearly 100 and heat index over 110.

So far, so good.
I am one of those old guys with a big nose, glasses and a beard. I have a primary vacuum system for stationary and mobile tools and a tertiary bulk air filtration system but have been suffering with a standard respirator that because of my beard, is only a partially effective, secondary system.
A pressurized system is the only effective means of handling a beard but before dropping $400 on a helmet system, I decided to try this power respirator. Skeptical after reading negative reviews from my visually challenged comrades, I was pleased to find I could indeed position the mask and my glasses without too much discomfort. After about 10 hours of use, I think this will be a keeper.
With a beard, I find it necessary to use the high setting and while battery life is adequate, I didn't like the capacity drop off. I remedied this with a $10 converter (110v AC to 6v DC) with its extended lead and adaptor that I plug directly into mask's battery connection for continuous, stationary use (like RO sanding) and switch to the battery pack for mobile use. As in the title...so far, so good.

So far, so good
I'm one of those old guys with a beard, big nose, and glasses. Although I have a primary vacuum system for stationary and mobile tools plus a tertiary bulk air filtration system, I still needed to improve secondary personal protection beyond the standard respirator, which is only partially effective with a beard.
The only way to handle a moderate beard is with a positive pressure system but before dropping $400 on one of the helmeted units, I decided to try this masked, power respirator. Skeptical after reading negative reviews centered around discomfort for the visually challenged, I was relieved to find that I can adequately position the mask and still see without too much discomfort and after about 10 hours of use, I think it's a keeper.
With a beard, it's necessary to use the high fan setting and I'm pretty sure the small fan capacity won't match any labored breathing from vigorous activity but seems passable for most shop use. Battery life on the high setting is reasonable but capacity drops off more than I want for continuous use. But $10 spent online yielded a 110v to 6v adaptor that I plug directly into the mask for long term, stationary use like RO sanding, and save the battery pack for shorter term, mobile use. As in the title...so far, so good.

As in the title...so far, so good.

I have sleep apnea and have had trouble with both mask fit and breathing in normal face masks. This product has solved both problems. I used it during both drywall and painting with great results.
The down side is the straps are too short and I have had to resort to a rubber band between them to provide the needed length. It would help to provide more strapping with instructions to trim to size in the fitting process.

one size does not fit all
Pros: it delivers clean air and does not fog my glasses. I have used it for a couple of dusty jobs and it really works well at keeping the air I breath clean.
Cons: it is hard to adjust so that it does not pinch my glasses painfully on my nose. For my face it would help if the mask were bigger. I got around this problem by pulling the mask down so that it does not touch the glasses. This makes the fit not as tight, but, since it is powered, the positive pressure of the air in the mask still keeps the dust out anyway.

I'm pleased with this device
After some background on different types of filters I settled on this one. It's pushing filtered air and positive reviews were supporting concepts driving my choice. I've used the set up for several hours without discomfort of fogging glasses. I'm glad I selected this and would do it again.

A Very Effective Respirator
This respirator comes in very handy when working at the table saw without a strong and effective dust removal system. It is as comfortable as any device of this sort can be and the internal fan that provides positive air pressure is ingenious and works very well. My only criticism of the unit concerns the battery pack. The battery pack is cumbersome. The cord from the battery pack to the face mask is too short to allow the pack to be placed in my pant pocket and too long for a shirt pocket - because of a dangling cord that could cause an accident. This is the only reason I did not rate this item as a 5-star. Otherwise, it is an excellent item and I would buy it again.

I bought this because whenever I...
I bought this because whenever I wear eye protection with a respirator my glasses fog. Although this mask did not totally solve the problem it has helped a lot. I've found that I can wear goggles meant for use with a half mask respirator and it works out pretty well. I do have issues with leakage around the nose but the air also tends to clear my goggles. Suggested improvements: an added metal clasp band across the nose that could be used to provide a better fit! a better color (who though baby blue was best for a device primarily purchased by men)! a better quality battery holder (the contact springs are weak).
