Received these a couple of weeks ago and have used them several times. Great product for a great price. I love the low profile. I was concerned about the shearing issue that was related to us by one reviewer so I bought a second set as a spare. So far I have not had the shearing problem. In fact I am happy to report that I have deliberately tried to shear them without success! I am a REAL beginner less than a year so my bench top is 3/4" MDF with a 3/16" hard board overlay. I drilled my dog holes with a 3/4" forstner bit. The fit is about as perfect as you can get. Another reviewer said he used a spade bit for his holes. I tried that on a practice piece of MDF and found the fit to be a little loose.

Bought these dogs about a year ago when I built my assembly table/workbench. I drilled a series of 3/4" holes using a spade bit and these fit perfectly. Like the fact they are low profile and out of the way when planing or sanding. I read one review that they worried about putting much pressure for fear of shearing them off but I have never had that as an issue. As long as they are flat to surface of the workbench you can put as much pressure as necessary to hold the project securely and they will work fine. For me these work as well as the metal dogs for a fraction of the cost.

Just received these this week. Bought them for my new workbench and have already used them a number of times. Makes so many jobs easier, including glue-ups! They have worked great. "Thanks" Rockler.

I found them a little loose in a 3/4 inch hole.
I added a layer of duct tape.

Recently, I made a workbench with 3/4 in holes for dogs. I expected to use some similar dogs from a workmate, but they need a slightly larger hole. These are similar but fit in the 3/4 in holes, including some shallow ones in my Veritas vise face. Work just great for holding most wood.

My bench looks like it has been attacked by woodpeckers. Holes everywhere, but just where I need them. It makes every job a lot easer and safer.

Great price, nice low height that stays under the thickness of most normal wood projects for me[4/4 or thicker] Zero complaints, I love it

I wanted to drill numerous 2x4 to make a wood bench. In order to have perfect lumber alignment to drill the holes, I used Rockler dog bench as lumber stop points. I set all dogs first, drilled the first hole, removed the first dog, punched the lumber against the second dog and so on...

I have purchased many sets of these bench dogs and I use them all the time for holding my carving panels to the bench. It is great having such a low cost tool that helps my carving work so much.

While these dogs are a little loose in a 3/4 inch hole, they work great. I bought them to use on my bench, and also a B&D workmate. The fit the workmate just fine and are lower profile than the B&D dogs.

Bought these as I planned to add a vise to my bench. Drilled a series of test holes using both a 3/4 inch forstner bit and spade bit. In both cases and in all cases, I found the holes to be a bit large for the bench dogs.

I am a woods teacher. For personal use these plastic dogs are inexpensive and worth every penny. However , for a school program, they will not hold up. Students shear them off in little more than a heart beat. I'm even a little afraid to put much pressure on them myself. I have never broken one but the fear of snapping them in half keeps me from getting my wood clamped tight enough to router.
