The 3rd Hand HD is the help you have been looking for. It is rugged, and built to last a lifetime. Versatile hand extension provides support, brace or clamp whenever you need an extra hand. 3rd Hand HD extends from 5' to 12' and has an action lever for secure pressure. It is perfect for crown molding and cabinet installations, putting up a plastic dust barrier, and as a truck load stabilizer. Bought a 2 pack to install 16' sections of crown molding by myself. The lack of directions left me with some uncertainty about installing the plastic "feet". I still don't know what to do with one set of plastic attachments. I found an arrangement that worked, and the tools held the moding in the proper position while I put in the nails. Nice, rubust design. A good investment.

Bought a 2-pack to install 80 ft. of 5 1/4" crown moulding by myself. They came with no directions, but once I figured out how everything assembled and worked, they were terrific. Very sturdy and I did not require anyone to assist me. Now use them in the back of my pick-up to keep stuff from sliding around. A good investment.

Strong & sturdy. Without directions, I managed to figure out how to pinch the two pins at the bottom to extend the poll up the full 12 feet-everything else was intuitive. When not in use, I position the 3d hand under my longer pieces of wood that extend past my lumber racks. Great product and great price!

I am a handyman and work by myself. I was hired to help a general contractor on a remodel job about 2 months ago. The job grew from some small repairs to a total redo of the entire house. At one point, I had to put up crown molding. This gave me the excuse I needed to purchase the 3rd Hand Extention system. My clients often have jobs that are very messy and they like to keep their houses clean. Taping plastic up to the walls and ceiling is a pain so I decided it would be better to by 4 poles. This was a wise choise as I had need for all four when the job required refinishing a solid serfice counter top. That means sanding and sanding means dust. Out came the poles and up went the plastic. It was much easier to do than the old tape method. I have no problems recomending the 3rd Hand extention system to anyone considering them.

I love them. They just have so many uses. What I love about them the most is I can make a temporary enclosed area in minutes for sawing, sanding and painting etc. saving a lot of time in clean ups. They are also great for installing molding, cabinets, Sheetrock, flooring, Stretching carpet and 100 other uses. I tried the competitors and they just don't match or hold up as well and are more expensive. I would also recommend the storage bag which is also well made and I'm able to store eight poles without a problem.

I used four to make a spray booth in my woodshop. The magnets and washers on the top to hold the plastic sheeting makes it incredibly easy to set up the 'walls'.

Installing crown moulding on your own is almost impossible, especially when lengths exceed 11 feet. The 3rd Hand tool makes attaching long crown to 8 foot high ceilings a breeze and helps protect the walls. I look forward to making use of this tool for other projects!

I love this thing! I do have a little difficulty with the push-pins used for macro-height adjustments (hard to push in both at the same time) but the micro-adjuster is a great feature and I could not have completed my drywall job without it.

Have used 3rd Hand for three large crown molding jobs and found it to have made a two person job feasible for one. Its main competitor is the Zipwall poles. I have one of those also. Zipwall is lighter, more flexible, and much easier to handle. BUT if you need to push a piece of molding into place, it does not have the strength of 3rd Hand. That is required if you are working in old houses as I am. Having used both, I would chose the stronger--an cheaper--3rd Hand.

I would have given it 5 stars, except it states that it extends 5' to 12'. It only extends 11' 9 1/2". I actually needed it to extend to 12'-0"

For the most part these are as good as everyone here states. The box shows how to shorten the poles for supporting upper cabinets. Yeah, you don't want to do that. I did it to a pair and now both are susceptible to dislodging pieces internally when moved to the new "shortest" length. The graphic on the box shows how to cut the two metal tubes but the rod that runs down the middle is now too long. The only way to make it usable is to reverse the orientation of the push-button spring but that makes the assembly unstable. Now, I'm not so happy with the purchase.

Great product. Better built then I was expecting. All the parts can take some abuse, i.e. falling unexpectedly. The micro adjustment built in to the swiveling base is a very nice feature, as well as the power of the hand crank. Hopefully these will hold up for a couple of years.

The product came in good shape and works like a charm. I bought it to install cabinets and the first thing I had to do was cut six inches off of the two polls. Now there is something that just doesn't feel right about taking a hacksaw to a brand new tool.

This tool does not extend to 12'. The real usable length is 11' 6". If you extend this tool to 12' the tabs open in the end cap and you cannot retract the 3rd Hand without disassembling the tool with a wrench and mallet. I contacted the manufacture and they stated that the extension to 12' is incorrect. They also helped me retract my tool after getting stuck. If your application does not require full extension; this is a great tool!
