For the price, it's a good steel Forstner bit starter set. The set arrived with sharp cutting edges. Be careful not to cut too fast to keep the edges from losing their temper.

I have several sets of Forstner Bits, and have not found a good cheap way to sharpen them....so it is often toss 'em and grab a new one.

It's excellent for what it is and what it costs for the set. In the world of all Forstners they would be a 3.5 to 4. I should have bought just a couple of carbides, but these are excellent for occasional-only needs. So far, just used them on poplar. I have some fine and ultra fine 1/2" ceramic polishing stones, so I think they'll work better when dressed to a high polish.

A great price for a starter set of Forstner bits. Nice clean sided cutting with zero tearout and fairly cool after boring 2" redwood. Keep the drill speed low.

A well-made set of bits suitable for the fairly serious woodworker. Nicely machined and gives consistent results. Good value.

I bought this set to get a 3/8 inch bit, crucial to guitar construction if you're going to install Tune-o-matic or Gotoh parts. I couldn't find a single 3/8 anywhere else.

Another great deal from the best in the business, Rockler. These forstner bits are quality steel, sharp, and you will find that they get the job done. They also arrive in a nice hard case. They are in very usable sizes. On sale or not, these bits are a quality product which does not suprise me coming from Rockler. Thanks again to everyone.

Couple of points first - I am not a terribly experienced woodworker and Forstner bits are definitely new to me. I do have a Freud 1-3/4" Forstner bit as a 'standard of comparison. I purchased this set on sale because I wanted to have an assortment of smaller bits for use as needed. These seem to be decent bits but I only gave them 3 stars since I had to leave room in the rating for really good bits. When I got the set, I took each one out, looked it over carefully and then bored a series of test holes using a 3/8" variable speed drill in pine and fir plywood and compared the results with the Freud. My general observations: they are nice and shiny but the cutting edges are not totally sharp visually they have flat spots and have a bit of a burr. They seemed to cut ok and the chips cleared out ok but I had to press pretty hard after 4 or 5 partial holes the bits felt very hot to painful level. The bits ran true with no wobble that I could see. Overlapped holes looked good. From my observations, this is a pretty good inexpensive set. You should certainly watch the bit temperature and you should definitely buy a sharpening kit as you are going to want to sharpen them.

For the money these bits are a good deal, especially on sale. They don't measure up to carbide bits but for the occasional user they should be fine. They don't come razor sharp so having the ability to file them sharper would be a plus. I've used them on poplar, birch, and oak without issues...good clean holes with clean sides and bottoms. They come packaged in a durable plastic case for dust free storage. The one confusing part is each bit is stamped with it's max RPM rating. The bits are stamped from 620 RPM to 870 RPM depending on the bit size...which makes sense for Forstner bits. However, the inside lid of the custom storage box has a label stating various RPM's recommended for different bit sizes...the problem is the label offers RPM's up to 2000! Why would package bits clearly meant for low RPM's have a label suggesting 2000 RPM's? The novice woodworker would burn up their bits in a hurry using high RPM's. Forstner bits are best used at the lowest RPM possible to achieve good results. That's my only issue with this set.

I've always bought just what I needed, but I saw a chance to get a set, so I bought this 7 pc set. Although I didn't know what to expect, I have to say I'm slightly disappointed. I've only used the 3/8" bit, I found it not very sharp. From the very first hole, I felt, I needed to apply way too much force. The holes come out nice and smooth, with no rough edges, but these won't last long before they need sharpening. I don't know if they can eve be re sharpened. I think I'll return them on my next visit , and maybe just buy the 3/8" & 1/2".

I bought both the 7 piece and 6 piece fractional Forstner bit sets on sale. A few of the bigger bits had some nicks and burrs in the machined surfaces. The smaller bits were perfect. All the bits cut through dry oak with easy. These aren’t the highest quality bits money can buy, but they’re good for the price, and a bargain on sale. I would recommend them.
