Ellegant and well manufactured. This catch secures cabinet doors with minimal visual impact. Recently, one of catches I installed years ago had a small manlfuction. One of the set screws backed out and the ball bearing and spring popped out. I found all of the parts in the cabinet, reassembled the catch and added some lock-tite to the set screw. In five minutes the catch was back in service.

I used the large brass ball catch to replace the ones on an Adirondack side table. They worked great and the table will stand again. Rockler was the only place I could buy the replacements.

I purchased these for a large maple armoire that I built with very large raised panel doors. You have to be very precise placing and setting them, and they work great once they are in place. Other reviewers have noted the same problem that I will....The screws that come with them are terrible. They snap or strip way too easily and you have to pre-drill and still be very, very careful. I would suggest you have some replacement screws on hand before you install. Otherwise, these look very good and work well.

Nice product. Very easy to install in a double-doored cabinet. After mounting the female to the cabinet frame and attaching the male to it, stick your head inside and mark the top and side of where the male unit hits the door. Drill a hole and tightly fasten one of the screws. Close the door to see if the unit engages. If you are off, loosen the screw and move the male unit slightly up, down or sideways, and retighten. For a blind attachment (no access inside the cabinet), repeat the above, however, tape a piece of smooth aluminum foil to the door, where the male unit will hit. Press the door firmly against the cabinet; the foil should have the impression of where the male unit will hit the door

I didn't know this product existed until I visited the Rockler website looking for a solution for sagging kitchen cabinet doors. We recently purchased a 20 year old home that has a kitchen pantry that has three doors arranged in a vertical column. The doors are all 22 inches wide and the two taller doors are 29 inches high. These are solid oak custom made cabinets and the doors weigh a ton. Each door is supported by two surface mount hinges and the weight of the doors made them sag substantially over time. When I replaced the hinges and got the doors to be square with the face frame I installed one brass ball catch on each door in the middle of the side opposite the hinges. When the doors are closed the catches are completely hidden. These catches will unload the hinges from the downward pull of their weight when the doors are closed. Problem solved!

My husband had bought a new computer desk with the drop down center drawer. After about a week the lathes broke and he wrote to the company. They in turn sent him new ones that also broke. I suggested that he look through the Rockler catalog. He found the Brass Ball Catch and the order was placed. He hasn't has any problem since he replaced them. They fit perfectly. Thank You!!

Very nice catch. I like that the tension is adjustable. I didn't have issue with screws, just have to pre-drill (like any brass screw really).
Very low margin of error for aligning the two pieces...about 1/16" either say I'd guess, so you have to be accurate.

These are very nice and work well. I did not experience problems with the screws, predrill them the right size and add a drop of penetrating lubricant to the threads before tightening by hand. You should also note that these have to be installed exactly, you have less than 1/16" of play to work with.

Used these ball latches on a grandfather clock that I built. I looked all over for something that would work. These worked fine. Great product.

The screws on the ball and catch were way too fragile. I predrilled oak, using the 5/64" self centering bit. I hand tightened the screw and snapped the screw. I found the screw to be too long. I had purchased the same type of ball and catch at another company and the screw were shorter and more durable. Now I have to dig out the the two screw shafts that snapped on my project....very annoyed.

This latch is the first I found that really works. I placed it on the lid of a cedar chest I had made. It holds and is very secure. Great product!

I put them on a walnut china hutch. Very classy and unobtrusive. I did have to shorten the springs to reduce the tension. They require attention to detail to get them positioned correctly.

Ball latches themselves are very nicely done. Tension adjustment is very nice. Throw away the screws and save yourself headaches.

The hardware is good but, the screws are to soft. I predilled the pilot holes and the screws heads still strip out.

The catch is very solid and well made! the tension screws really let you dial it in perfectly. The only negative I could say, like others, the screws are very weak. Go ahead and have some extra on hand. I twisted two heads off, even after predrilling. The quality of the catch far exceeds this issue though. Thanks Rockler!

This product does what its supposed to do. If there are any negatives about this product it is the fact that it comes with no installation instructions and that there is no margin for error when installing them. After all, some of us are novices at woodwork! not master carpenters. After installing the catch on the frame, I cut two small pieces of duct tape and taped the strike plate to the inside of the cabinet door and just kept moving it around until I found the correct spot for installing it. May sound dumb, but it worked. If it weren't for the fact that it comes with no installation instructions, I'd give it five stars. As others have said, the provided screws are terrible. Make sure you have a few extras on hand.

I predrilled oak door and hand tightened but still stripped the screw head. Luckily I ordered extra's. Otherwise very good product. Serves its purpose very well.
