Ultra High Molecular Weight (UHMW) Polyethylene is your best material choice for making jigs and fixtures

Often referred to as the World's Toughest Polymer, Ultra High Molecular Weight (UHMW) Polyethylene is your best material choice for making jigs and fixtures for your table saw, router table, drill press, etc. UHMW is a linear high density polyethylene that's 10x heavier than regular high-density polyethylene giving you a rock-solid base for your jig or fixture. UHMW has a low coefficient of friction and is self-lubricating, making it glide over your work surface with little resistance. Plus, this rugged polymer will last for years, as it is highly resistant to abrasions, chemical-resistant, and maintains its high-impact strength even at low temperatures. Choose 24" long stock in 3/4" or 3/8" thicknesses, or a 48" length in 3/8" thickness. All pieces are 4" wide.

Very good material for fences. Carbide blade on the saw had no problems. But be careful if you try to joint it. I was trying to mill a runner for a jig, I had my jointer set for too aggressive a cut and it jammed the cutterhead so hard that the outfeed table cracked from the shock. Game over for that jointer.

They make bullet-proof vests out of this stuff so be careful.

This is an excellent product to use for jigs, templates and many other purposes. Everything that I ordered was well packed and perfectly straight.

As previous reviewers have commented, my 4/3" UHMW section came warped as well. However, I was surprised to see that I could easily bend it back into shape and it has remained perfectly straight ever since. So before you call Rockler to complain, I would definitely attempt placing the warped section of the board over the corner of your workbench and pushing it back into shape first. It worked for me.

No problems at all. Product came straight and clean. I had a problem with a Rockler order once and they resolved it very quickly. I was on the phone with them for only 30 seconds. No issues.

I was disappointed in that the plastic is warped. It would seem to me that it would be difficult to make many products for jigs when it is warped like that. It may have happened in shipping.

24 " X 4" Piece was warped and not usable. Haven't had time yet to contact anyone.

I thought this would be a great low friction surface for my router table fence but over time the 3/8" has warped and bowed. I attached it to my 3/4" 7 ply fence using some countersunk #6 screws. Maybe using epoxy instead would work better but I'm still not sure it would remain true over time. Cool stuff though. Looks like it will work good as a miter slot guide on various small sled type jigs.

I had the same problem that Bob Jenkins had. I ordred 2 pieces of UHMW to make zero-clearance throat plates for my table saw. They arrived warped and thus unuseable for that purpose. However, the good news is that I called Rockler and talked to a technician and she had 2 replacements shipped the same day at no cost to me. That's really great customer support.

"Every time I have been in a Rockler store around the country I have left feeling that I received wonderful service and most always had exactly what I needed in stock at a fair to great price. the only complaint, if it can be called that, is that I have to drive over 45 minutes to reach the nearest Rockler store. My wife probably appreciates that distance, as I am certain that if one was as close as I wished it to be, we would have very little left in our checkbook!"
