Instead of chopping at the wood fibers at a 90° angle, the shear angle cutters on these bits slice through stock at a slight angle, producing a smoother cut than traditional straight-fluted bits. The unique design also helps eliminate tear-out problems that occur when routing end-grain or cross-grain on hardwoods.

A fantastic value on high quality router bits. These bits are competitively priced while offering high performance and long life.

Quality performance features include:

  • K10 and K20 grade carbide for clean cutting action.
  • Final sharpening with 600 - 800 grit diamond wheels.
  • Precision balanced for smooth operation.
  • Baked-on anti-stick coating to reduce pitch and resin buildup.

100% GuaranteeIf you are not 100% satisfied with these bits, send them back for a refund.
Router Safety Tips:
It's easy to prevent mishaps if you take a few simple precautions.

1) Rockler recommends using 1/2'' shank router bits whenever possible. 1/2'' shanks provide better stability with less vibration to produce a smoother cut and longer cutter life.
2) Make multiple light passes rather than one heavy cut.
3) Install your router bit so that 90% of the shank is inside the collet. Here's a rule of thumb: fully insert the bit, then pull it back 1/16 to 1/8 of an inch.
4) Use a router table whenever possible.
5) When using large diameter bits, reduce the RPM of your router. Then test your set-up on scrap lumber.
6) Always follow your router manufacturer's recommendations.

I bought ths bit to use with templates that I can attach to the project and have the templete on top as I rout the shape on an under table mounted router. Works very well for that application.

I've used and burned out many standard (non-shear) flush trim bits. I saw the shear trim bit on sale and decided to give it a try. All I can say is WOW. I blew through 3/4" oak without bogging down, burn marks, or tearout. Just perfect smooth edges. You won't find a better bit for this price.

I used the flush trim router bit for the first time while building six cabinets. This bit made my work look like I knew what I was doing in building cabinets, but this was the first cabinets I ever built. It trims up the tops and sides of the cabinet to make it look like I cut all the pieces correctly, which I didn't. I would highly recommend this bit for trim work on anything, not just cabinets. It is well worth the money. Get it, you'll love what it can do.

The best flush cut bit I've ever used. Very smooth clean cuts even on tiger maple and woods with wild grain patterns. The shear cut really makes all the difference and the double bearing is so handy. It's a hefty bit too and works great in the router table.

Outstanding results for template work. The shear configuration gives very fine surface finish. The double bearing allows for all downhill cutting by flipping the part, and raising or lowering the bit.

Smooth. Easy. Bearing also smooth and seems well made. Even got gummed up with some adhesive (from a veneer) and performed well.

I purchased the 2-flute, double bearing model and have been very pleased. The cuts are smooth and require very little sanding. The double bearing setup makes the bit very versatile for pattern work. The working length is generous (1-1/2"), so it's possible to stack work pieces and cut two parts at once with light passes. The carbide seems to be holding up quite well despite some ham-fisting on my part in hard maple.

Delivery from Rockler very good. However, I found that the bit required more force to move accross the cut than other bits I have used. Seemed like it was also flexing more than I expected.

3 flute shear cutting bit after 1 week of frequent usage: outstanding!! I'm quiet impressed by the beautiful surface that's left. I will definitely check out Rockler bits when I have a need.

First flush trim bit for my tiny workshop. I have used both the upper and lower bearings which both worked great. Nice to be able to have one bit that does the work on two when you do not have a lot of storage room. I would highly recommend.

I used this bit on several large panels, and in duplicating identical panels, so I used both the upper and lower bearings in the process. The cut was very clean and smooth, with no tear-out.

I have used this bit on a couple of projects and it's performance is excellent, no tear out just a smooth finish. I have purchased from Rockler on a number of occasions and the products arrived within two or three days. They were well packed with no problems.

The shearing angle gave a nice smooth cut when side pieces were trimmed flush to the maple pastry board, and no tearout or burning to the cherry trim. A nice addition to my router bit collection.
