My large sander died, and got this smaller sander as I make smaller AWARDS for our local High School. Its small size turned out to be a blessing. As its light weigh, cuts quickly and extremely quick, I can over look the fact that it heats up quickly. I have learned to alter my methods of construction so I can give the sander some time to cool down between the different steps of making my awards. For me its perfect but the heating up will be an issue for someone who does heavy duty, long duration sanding.

A great sander for trim carpenters or cabinet installers, all wood workers in general. Easy to control in one hand for fine tuning trim and any material. It's a little work horse.

I received this little sander and thought I might have some uses for occasionally but it has become my favorite belt sander for many tasks that I do. Lightweight, cuts quickly and though it has a small platen, it is easy to control and use, prior to other finishing sanders to save time and effort. I love it!

Much easier to handle than any other I've used. This is a real improvement! Changing belts is a snap. I gave my old regular sized sander away.

This belt sander is easy to control especially if you have arthritis. It works especially well in the building of coffins. Yes, I said coffins. Fits into small areas that larger ones won't. Just needs to be used gently not with a lot of pressure. I would say it is not built for sanding a house.

I love this thing. I almost never touch my other belt sander now. My only gripe--and it's not an inconsiderable one--is that it becomes very hot to hold after only about 3-4 minutes of running. And I do mean "hot"--hot enough to make the body distinctly uncomfortable to hold, and hot enough for me to worry about soldered connections inside melting. Connecting a dust hose to my 2 1/2" shop vacuum helps cool it a bit, but merely enough to double the run time to about 6-8 minutes. Then I must set this sander aside and let it cool down for an hour before using it again. Do I happen to have a defective unit?

Handy hand tool. Works great and easy to use. One more thing, I too have experienced the unit getting too hot to hold. I can only operate it with gloves on. Not sure if this is normal.

I just refinished a circular stair in 130 year old house. The oak treds had dirt ground into them and at least 1/8 inch of wood had to be removed. Job needed power and small manoevrabile machine that could do flush edges. This porter cable was the only sander that could have done the job.
For finish and in between coat sanding I used mouse with 220 grit, but without the porter cable 14 X 2 1/2 inch the job would have been impossible.
Great machine!

I bought this thinking it might be a nice tool for my kids to learn on being small and easier to handle than a larger belt sander. It has now become a favorite of mine. It is lightweight and with a 50 grit belt it has enough power to cut through most jobs. I am very happy with my purchase.

An excellent tool. I only wish that the belt would stay put once the lateral adjustment is set--it wanders a bit either way as the motor vibration allows the centering knob to rotate after adjustment. Otherwise I have no complaints--this tool works very well indeed.

I am building (2) rowboat coffee tables and found this to be the ideal tool to smooth out stringer ties to match the ribbing so as I could put the plywood down evenly for the sides and bottom. The hand control of this machine is exceptional.

Do not be fooled by this machines size. I am glad I bought this, thinking I could replace my big belt sander. Nice control and dust port make this a must purchase. Invest in finer grit belts for use on frame and panel doors. I used it to smooth out the rail and stiles that did not quite match up with a 120 grit belt. That still worked faster than my orbital sander with a 60 grit disc.

I had added this sander to my wish list and my wife purchased it. Boy was I glad when I open the box to fine it. I wasted no time in using the sander, and it was great. The sander I found was easy to use and control, one handed I may add. I have a heavy duty belt sander and again it take two hand to work. This sander is easy on the hands and does the job just as the heavy model sander does without the discomfort to the hands and arm. As all woodworkers know or will know Carpal Tunnel is a problem we all face and this sanders is easy on your hands and arm. You will be missing on a great product if you do not add this sander to your collection.

Leave it to PC to come up with the next take on the belt sander. As soon as you unpack it and feel it you just know your gonna like. Then turn it on and your expectations start to kick in. Touch it to a piece of wood and - -ah, well yah just buy your own. Thanks bunches for this little jewel PC.

I've owned this sander less than three hours and strongly agree with a previous customer comment. This sander gets HOT QUICK. Almost defective hot. If it was not for another owner stateing the same issue I would have taken it back. Other than that it seems to work fine.

I got this sander for Christmas, and it is fantastic. I do a lot of smaller work, where a large belt sander would be impossible to bring to bear, but would be the ideal tool. This sander solves the problem. It is aggressive like a larger belt sander, but controllable with one hand.
