Incredibly useful device. Simply put: This is a MUST HAVE tool. I have one of these plus a large Shop Vac and all my tools that have a dust collection port get plugged in with this. The moment I saw the i-socket demonstrated, I knew this was a must own. Saves time, electricity from needlessly running your vac too long and effort to switch one thing on, then another... Definitely in the top three of my most used tools, possibly #1 since I use it on basically all my stationary tools and a couple portables.

I now own two of these switches. One I use for my miter box at work. The other is hooked into my miter box in my own shop. Awesome product. I use a shop vac at both places. If i need the vacuum elese where, I just unplug it and go. As always, Rockler delivers exactly as advertised.

This product works very well. I am currently using it with my miter saw and it is so much nicer than reaching underneath the saw table to turn on the vacuum each time. I am so happy with it I am planning on getting one for my router table also.

INSTEAD OF A vAC, I hook it up with two submersible water pump. It works fine and saves the time of turning off the water pump every time I switch between machines.

I have two i-sockets. One is for our table saw and vac. The second is for our router table and vac. We have a woodworking business. We provide wood for crafters. It is excellent and a time saver. Not having to turn on each piece of equipment every time you use them is great. I especially like the feature of the vac running 5-7 seconds longer to help keep the sawdust in check.

This switch did exactly what is was supposed to do. The switch turns on a "Shop Vac" (13amp)at the same time I turn on a 12" sliding compound miter saw and then once I am done with the sawing, the vacuum continues for about 5-7 more seconds. I would definitely recommend this product.

This is the best invention since sliced bread. I use a shop vac and a separator bucket for dust and chip collection. Before I bought this I had to walk across my crowed shop, turn on the vac and walk back to turn on the power tool. Now I just turn on the power tool, the vac comes on, and I smile.

I have a small shop with limited plugs. This socket allows me to plug in my jointer and vac into the same outlet and what makes it even better is i don't have to turn on and off the vac, this thing does it for me automaticly. When ever I turn on the jointer or planner or drill press and so on, which ever tool I am using at the time. It's great.

I bought this to use on a small hobby drill (used in dental labs and pedicure stores). It did not work. The instructions say it is for 'medium' loads only, and this type of drill is not a large enough load to trigger the switch. Of course, returning the switch easy.

This product was designed to turn on a vaccuum cleaner when another tool like a sander is turned on and then turn it off about seven seconds after the tool is turned off. I hooked this up to my shop vac and my sander and it operated just as advertised. That is wonderful.

Building a fence requires me to use quite a number of tools with the shop vac and keeps me moving throughout the work day.
This awesome little device saves me a whole lot of time by not having to run back and forth to shut the vac off each time.
Great tool, saves time and money.

I tried to make one of these and succeeded in blowing circuit breakers; I also spent a lot more on relays and parts than the price of the switch.
The switch works as advertised and is very satisfactory. It saves steps and works better than the remote switch I currently have.

I-Socket works well with fixed speed motors. HOWEVER it does not work with scrollsaws because it is variable speed.I still have to turn the saw and vac on seperately which is a pain because of the large number of blade changes required sawing enclosed holes.

Very useful, light, and works well. Turn on is very quick and it turns off the vac after a few seconds which is nice (gives the vac a little time to clear the hose before turning off). I definitely recommend it.

I liked the relay switch so much I bought two more. I have 2 miter saws at the cabinet shop and recently found another use. When tv's or other electronic equipment are enclosed the must be ventilated. This works great for turning fans on automaticly when device is turned on. A foolproof way to cool components.

I bought this product to put on my dust collection system and it worked great. We both loved it so much that I bought another so we could both have one it is a real step saver.

A one trick pony that is good but could be made better. If you want to use your dust collection to clean the floor, you must unplug you DC from the switch. Perhaps with a little engineering, they could make an override by flipping your DC switch twice to turn the DC on. For me, a remote switch seems more practical.

I have used this product and it is okay for the average task. It is not recommended for continuous use.
I was suprised to see that it does not have any safety approval such as UL/CSA.
Its limitations are that the maximum load for the tool and dust collection system is 15 Amps.
It does not trigger on low power tools such as a Dremel tool or a mouse sander.

I had to replace the machine screw already in the outlet chosen for the gizmo with a longer one. Its female sockets are snug enough that the gadget tends to pull loose when I unplug a tool. Yes, that longer screw prevents complete de-attachement, but just.
If the manufacturers made a similar gadget for 230 volt outlets I'd buy it too.

I think this relay switch is meant more for constant speed equipment. I installed it on a variable speed lathe and the lathe has to reach about 1100 rpm before the amperage draw is sufficient to turn on the dust collector.

They state that you can power any 15amp vacuum/dust collector, and it works with any 15amp saw/router/planner/sander with this item, but it doesn't work. I requested help from manufacturer website, 6 days without a response, and no phone number to call. I guess that old saying is true here, "buyer beware" if it sound to good to be true, then it probably isn't. Rockler took it back no questions.

Switch rattled right out of package, turns out that the screws that hold on the face plate anchor into 4 very small post that had fractured and broken off. Although the switch works fine it is still very limited in it's use. It can only be mounted one way and that is plugged into a receptacle held in place by a single screw...flimsy. It would be more useful if the switch could be mounted anywhere.

I'm very conscientious and careful with my tools, but after a year of light shop use the 'tool' receptacle stopped gripping the plug. I went to disassemble it and the screw sockets inside broke off. The entire housing is flimsy. Ruggedness was definitely not in the design criteria, and the holes in the plastic were not predrilled to the correct size or depth. This loads the plastic sockets with stress and they eventually crack, break and render the housing useless. I was able to glue the pieces back in with ABS cement, re-drill the holes and reassemble it, but I don't expect it to last. This piece needs to have the housing redesigned with more weight and beefiness so it will withstand even light use.

I-socket works fine when using the vacuum with smaller tools like mitre saws and routers but kicks circuit breaker when connected to my tablesaw. Won't take the startup load. I can start the saw and then start the vacuum and then the i-socket will turn off vacuum about 5 seconds after saw is turned off.

Its a real good idea, it would be nice if they made one with 230 volts.
I use it in conjunction with my dust collector. My table saw delayed in starting and burned the i-socket up instantly. I think that a built in rest button would be a great improvement.
