This is an awesome shop stool. It goes together very easily yet is very strong. It is very weight but does not wobble or move. The seat is very comfortable even after hours of use. It is just the right height. I strongly recommend this stool!!!

Kudos for Rockler! Sturdy design. Straight-forward assembly. Quality parts. It was a bit tall for my 36" workbench and my 5'10" frame. As suggested by another reviewer, I cut the legs down 4" using a pipe cutter. Now the chair is custom perfect for my workshop.

Thanks to all the other reviewers, their positive comments made this an easy buy! and my opinion is the same as many others: solid construction, comfortable, stable, assembled easily, swivels smoothly not loosely. Arrived promptly, undamaged, no missing parts and none left over.  Good value for money - not dirt-cheap, but worth every penny. Really glad I bought it, recommend without reservations.

The stool was everything I expected it to be, at a great price. It was easy to assemble, looks good and is comfortable.

Very sturdy in its construction. The legs do not get in the way of swiveling and the cover feels tough. There is only a small amount of cushion in the seat...not a big problem, just something that the picture might lead you to think beforehand.

I have waited to get this stool until my shop was up and ready to set up the price and quality are what makes this a work shop must.

Nice platform for my human form. Sturdy and stable. The swivel is a big plus. It is a Goldilocks chair - not too firm, not too soft, but ju-u-u-ust right. The covering is tough but is very comfortable for long sessions at the bench. Need a bench stool? This one is an excellent choice. Outstanding price as well.

Stool is solid and comfortable. A great feature is that the stool seat doesn't swivel until you are seated on it. Then it swivels very easily. I'm very pleased with my stool.

Great shop stool, very reasonable price. The instructions were very clear, came with all the parts, including the required tools. It seems extremely well built, strong, is comfortable and I expect many good years of use from it.

I was very pleased with this stool until a very heavy friend, about 300lbs, sat on it and broke the seat. The top layer inside the seat is 5/8" particle board and it snapped in two places. I re-built it with 3/4 plywood and added an extra 1" of high density foam.

I received my stool today. It is very sturdy,& comfortable. My only regret is I didn't notice it had no wheels. I'm handicapped,& hoped this would help me get around my shop easier. Now I have to shop for casters or send it back.

My husband loves his new stool. He was getting back pain from sitting on a hard stool. He works at a scroll saw. This stool is so comfortable and just the right height. He loves his craft making and this stool makes it possible.

Easy to put together, comfortable to use (though I have not yet used it for a long scroll saw session), very sturdy, good height.

Very pleased with the this product, yours is far superior than all the others looked at. I have made a lot of different purchases from you over the years and all have been superior in every way. Keep up the good work and quality.

I purchased this stool mail-order. I then saw a stool for $20 at a local home improvement store. I am so happy that I purchased this stool from Rockler. There is no comparison to any other stool I have looked at. The quality and construction of this stool and it's materials is second to none. The instructions issue others have mentioned is no big deal. We wouldn't be buying at Rockler if we didn't have some DIY experience.
You will not be sorry if you purchase this great stool!

Another super product from Rockler. I purchesed this stool and it is everything I have come to expected from Rockler...Quality! I had no problems with the "working drawings" directions for assembly, but see where a non-craftsperson (someone giving it as a gift)might. Written directions might help that. You cannot improve on this rugged work stool!

This was an anniversary gift for my husband who is getting into woodworking. The stool fits nicely in the small space he has set up for his work bench. The height is perfect. The design is great too!

The stool is well made but I found it to be a little bit tall to work at normal height benches etc. It was necessary to cut the legs down to adapt to standard benches.

This is absolutely by far the best shop stool I have every used. The seat gives firm support and the legs are out of the way for my big, clumsy feet.
Super design and quality. Keep of the great work Rockler!

The swivel mechanism is very stiff and it does not swivel easily. The cushion appeared thick in the photo but is only about 3/4" thick. Rockler has been a great company to do business with. If I were them, I would not want my company logo on this item.

Editor's note: swivels on stools and chairs are designed specifically with resistance in them so that one needs the weight of sitting on them in order to do the swivel action.
Seat will be as shown in photo however body of seat is firm with only a thin layer of padding at top of the cushion.

I bought this stool and the welds beneath the seat started breaking causing the legs to bend in less than a year. The local store replaced it free of charge but now, less than a year later the replacement is cracking in the same places and now the local store says "tough luck" so I have to look to buy a replacement. I weigh 225 so if you are a full size person like me, I would bypass this stool.

The height is perfect for me (I'm 6'-2") for sitting at my workbench. The seat is comfortable and swivels when you want it to, not when you don't.
My only issue with it is that you have to spread the legs apart to get the bolts through the foot rest, and the bolts are barely long enough to catch threads in the nut. This causes the feet to splay slightly, meaning the feet don't sit flat on the floor.
Other than that, it seems like it will be fine to use.

The half lap cross joint under the cushion of this stool was not cut acurately so it is impossible to level the four legs. Consequently the stool wobbles. The welds were very sloppy, it looked like it was probably made in some third world country village. But, the price was right.

Heavy Duty, comfortable and exactly the right height to work on something sitting on my bench. THe only issue is the plastic plugs on the bottom of the feet. They kept falling out. I purchased a set of 1" rubber feet crutch type & less than $2.00 and now the stool is perfect. Another great Rockler product.

Would have rated as excellent but the internal seat support board particle board collapsed at two locations. Ended up stripping the seat, removing the extremely low quality board looked like a cross between OSB and particle board and replacing it with good plywood. Added another 1/2 inch of foam as well. Otherwise the stool is excellent. Sturdy frame, foot rest, etc. Looks like the Chinese don't have a good handle on manufacturing OSB. I was able to break up the 3/4 in "stuff" by hand. It just crumbled away. Only took 1/2 hour or so to fix so even with that factored in it's still a good price compared to others I've looked at.

Purchased this shop stool after looking at several other places - selection was slim and this one looked reasonably good at a fair price. Assembly went smoothly in less than 15 minutes. Unfortunately, I sat on the stool and placed my palm on the edge to reposition myself and the seat seemed to cave in. Upon closer inspection, I realized that I did in fact cave in the seat structure. Given the slim selection elsewhere, I decided to fix the problem myself rather than try to return/exchange. I took the seat apart pealed the layers off carefully after removing staples and found that the seat was extremely lightly made - very low quality. I rebuilt the underlying structure with two 3/4" diameter discs with plywood inner structure as well. After putting the outer layers back on carefully, the stool is good as new and is now very usable and I'm happy with it. Given that I had to totally rebuild the seat due to disposable quality inner materials, I'm giving this product only 2 stars even though I'm happy with it now.

After my previous experience with Rockler's products, I knew that this was going to be a nice stool and a welcome addition to my shop. I ordered up two of them. Upon receiving them, you could tell that the quality was great. Very easy to assemble. What threw me for a bit of a loop was the height of the stools. At 30" high, they fall right into the range of the height of a bar stool. If I had a wet bar in my shop, they would have been perfect right out of the box to drink a beer or eat some wings, but they're too tall to use to work comfortably at my workbench. A few twists with the pipe cutter and I quickly brought them back down to earth, taking about 4" off of each leg. The pipe cutter worked great, and didn't damage that nice chrome finish.
