My husband and I made a farmhouse table made of Heart Pine. I didn't want to ruin the look with a shiny plastic looking poly finish so when I found Minwax Antique Oil Finish I was super excited to use it. Came a few days ago and it more than lived up to my expectations. After applying two coats the table looks absolutely beautiful!

I use Antique Oil on my wood turning projects and really like the finish and depth it brings out. Very easy to use and the natural look is fantastic.

We use the minwax Antique Oil Finish on all our oak floors. Even if it is not recommended it is very durable with two coats. I like it because you can re-oil the floors to help keep the wood from drying out.

I have tried several other brands in getting just the right look and feel to all my wood products and was'nt very pleased until I discovered Antique Oil Finish. This finish goes on smooth, easy and leaves a great look to new and very old wood still leaving the great personal look of the wood.
I did find this product is some what hard to find.

I've also used Minwax Antique Oil Finish for 15-20 years, always with great results. All the oak furniture in my house has this as a final finish. Easy to use, I renew the finish every 5-10 years by a quick wipe down with the same product.

It is overwhelming to enter the new world of finishes especically since so many of us have not yet extensively used the wipe-on polys and whatnot. I am interested chiefly in hardness (durability, real resistance to iced water glass in summer) and also a real dull sheen. It may be that nothing beats a brand-name flat or eggshell poly oh-so-carefully applied before dawn, 2-3 coats, BUT --- three coats of this stuff (MAOF) is amazingly capable. You may find it a tad shiny if you are a flatness nut like me, but it is simple to rub it down with a cloth (dry) if that is the case, or just do a cleaning with a little paint thinner after it dries thoroughly, which may take a while in wet weather. Repeat in a half-year or year, then every other year or 3, and onward at longer intervals. I have walnut pieces from almost 40 years back that look great and their last coat was maybe a decade ago --- time to get cookin'. And they have nary a water ring anywhere on them. I once tested leaving a G&T overnight in August on one spot vs the same with a satin poly (name brand, I forget who), and MAOF won, pretty easily as I recall. I am too lazy to do the lite sanding or steelwooling b/w coats as I should, and as I say I have NOT tested against the new wipe-on flat or satin polys, though I should, but my vote for this product is happily cast. And for purists who hate chemistry, all it is a polymerized linseed oil, I think....

After reading the comments about this product I had to try it. It is great. Doesn't have the sheen of teak oil, danish oil or other products. This the product for me from now on.

I have used this product on a wide number of projects. I have used it from the early 1990's until now. It is absolutely great for Cherry wood if you want the wood to age naturally and not look like you painted it. The patina is natural and will redden to a rich tone over the years. I have used this product on all types of wood and have not been dissapointed yet. The only bad thing about it is the strong smell that will last for a week or so, but the good definitely outweighs the bad. Two coats and you are done. Try it, you will like it.
