Rockler Advantage

Spraying from one vantage point means no walking, no yanking on hoses and no need to readjust lighting. Larger hook fits standard 3/4" pipe — use a long clamp as a hanging rod.

Improves on the original with 360° of swivel action, allowing you to spray all sides of your door without having to walk around or lift it off the rod to rotate it. Just grip the black section of the arm and give it a twist. Since you always spray from the same point, you’ll be able to spot flaws easily without readjusting your lighting. The larger hook fits perfectly around standard 3/4" ID pipe, which makes a handy, stable hanging rod. Expandable cam-action plug fits into any 35mm hinge hole and secures by simply pivoting the arm 90°.

Simply insert the 35mm cam-action locking plug into the door's hinge cup hole. To lock the plug in place, just rotate the pivoting arm so it’s parallel to the door face. You can even easily adjust the plug for varying tolerances in 35mm bits using an Allen wrench (not included).
  • Finish all sides at once — no need to wait and flip.
  • A perfect application — no fingerprints or dents from nail-boards.
  • With good air circulation on all sides of the door, your finish will dry faster.
  • 35mm plug adjusts to accommodate varying tolerances in 35mm bits.
  • Fits shallow 9mm deep cup holes and standard 13mm deep cup holes.
  • Works with standard 3/4" ID pipe — the same stuff used in pipe clamps.
  • Opening in hook is approximately 1-1/16" wide.
  • Overall length is approximately 8-5/8" in closed position.
  • Sold individually.
  • Patent Pending.

Just completed finishing 420 doors using the Sure-Hook 360 from Rockler. Each door required three coats of stain and two coats of lacquer so it was quite the undertaking. I purchased 48 of the Sure-Hook 360s and 24 of the Sure-Hook Universal hangers. Throughout the whole process they performed flawlessly.

There are several things that we learned from other reviews and planning that made our process much easier. For all doors that were 12" wide or greater, we used two hooks and hung the doors horizontally. This eliminated most of the swinging or movement mentioned in other reviews. Next, we made hanging and spraying racks our of standard bar clamps. By using 6' bars for vertical posts, 90* couplers, and more bars held together with straight line couplers, we created a place to spray two to three doors at a time and other spaces to stage and dry doors. The vertical pipes were mounted into 2 4x4's stacked on top of each other that had a hole drilled to a diameter slightly larger than the pipes. Offsetting pressure was placed on each 4x4 and screws were driven into each "block" of 4x4's holding the pipe securely in place. This firmly held each pipe in place and was simple to set up and break down.

Once the doors were sprayed, we removed one of the hooks and placed the door on a hanging drying rack. Drying only required one hook. Finally, we used the Universal Sure-Hooks on the drawer fronts that did not have 35mm hinge holes drilled into them. For this, we only used one per piece which required holding part of the hook with one hand and the sprayer with the other. There was a tremendous amount of sway with only one hook, but that was easily overcome by simply holding the hook while it hung from the bar.

In conclusion, I would highly recommend this product to anyone looking to spray/finish any quantity of doors. As mentioned, buy more than you think you need since it is easier to use with two rather than one. Ultimately, as with any woodworking project, our prior planning significantly helped our execution. Minus overspray, the hooks are still in great condition and will be used many times in the future. Thanks for another great product, Rocker!

I used them to spray 43 cabinet doors with a latex primer and then oil based enamel. Even with the thick paint they still worked very well and came right out of the hinge hole without sticking. The high pressure from an airless spray gun the caused the doors to move around but it was manageable. I could simply use 2 hooks if I need them to be still. Well worth the cost when you consider the time and labor savings.

Great product!!! I am a small cabinet shop with limited space. I typically spend two days painting my doors since I would have to spray one side, wait for dry time then flip and spray the other side. This time I was able to spray both sides at once. WORKED GREAT. If they ever come out with a second generation I would like it not to swivel as easy (door kept turning while I was trying to spray it) and a little longer shaft between the door and hook. I would spray in one area and then move the door to it's dry space. with the little area to grab it, it made it a little tricky moving it. So with those two improvements this item would be AWESOME!

This is a very handy hanger. I've used the non-360 Sure-Hook before and it worked great. The 360 works just as well, with the added benefit of allowing you to rotate your work. But... The air from my spray gun was also able to rotate the work piece, so sometimes I had to chase the work.

This product worked just like it should. I was able to finish doors in a shorter time frame. Just spray and slide down pipe and let dry. If I had more room no sliding would be necessary.

It does exactly what I need it for. Allows freedom of movement and more exact spraying and coverage. Excellent product.

One of my roles as a remodeling contractor is cabinet builder, and I've forever been trying to figure out how to fabricate something like this to allow me to spray both sides of a door without leaving marks or making holes in the workpiece. These are a dream come true.
There's nothing I'd change about them based on my first use yesterday to spray 30 doors. I rigged up a 3/4" pipe to use for spraying, and then used an articulating ladder set up as a scaffold for a drying rack. The hangers fit on the ladder's rails and all 30 doors fit at once. I recommend 2 hangers per door during the finishing, but they easily hang on one for drying, so my 40 hangers is really enough to do 39 doors, but I'm getting more anyway to avoid juggling. I also bored holes in the backs of drawer fronts to hang those, which worked great.
To whomever figured out how to make these things affordably...thank you, thank you, thank you!

These really do make finishing cabinet doors a breeze. However not without some prior planning. If you use the hooks as it, you'll have a hard time keeping the door from swinging/rotating from the HVLP spray, which means more finish in some places than others. In short they work marginal at best if you use them like Rockler shows in the picture.
I over came this shortcoming by cutting some scrap, drilling a hole for the hook and routing a slot for the neck of the hook. This prevents the swinging. Otherwise great product.

These easy to use clamps, worked very well.
The only thing I'd change, or add, is to have more friction on the rotation feature when using one clamp. The doors spin too freely, and require two hands when finishing your doors. (one for the spining door, one for the gun.)I used 3/4" electrical conduit between two 1x4 T shaped, shop fabbed ends. Chest high height, to center of door for spraying, and a lower 3/4" rod to transfer the wet doors too. I was able to do 10 doors per frame this way. With over spray build up, maybe less spin next time.

Very handy. Had the older kind first. The 360 are even better.

I bought 12 but wish I had enough for all 27 doors I was making. They not only hold the doors while I sprayed they held them so I could hang them to dry side by side and not have to wory about the doors swinging into each other as my old string and screw method.

I am building new cabinets for my kitchen remodel and bought 12 of these to hopefully speed up the process of finishing the 30 doors for the project. They worked great! In fact, I used them to finish the shelves too by putting a small screw in the shelf end and affixing it to the hanger with a piece of string.

Great idea but a little quality control in manufacturing is needed. I bought a box of 12 and one of them separated at the swivel joint causing the finished door to crash to ground and be destroyed. Inspect this product carefully before you use it.

I ordered 40 of these hooks for my shop and I must say that they are worth every penny! They are easy to use and makes spraying doors much easier than finishing the old way.

These hooks work exactly as advertised. I purchased six of the hooks and was able to stain and poly six doors on both sides without any finger marks, no drips, no runs, just great professional looking results. The clamping action that fits in the standard 35mm pocket is sure and trust worthy and releases very easily when you are ready.

First timer for using euro hinges, saw these and really liked them although only problem is the roatating hook makes it hard to spray, think maybe a toothed positioning instead of the rotating feature might work better, or a wave washer to add some interferance. I would purchase again, just for the ease of spraying both sides at once. Oh and for the euro hinges, get the Jig-IT, made it precision install. Thanks Rockler

Love them, but have had multiple failures at the swivel joint, causing damage to doors ouch!
Great hanger, but Rockler needs to improve quality control. It costs a LOT when a door falls.
Hope they improve on quality control for this much mentioned issue!

Great gadget when you need to paint both sides of the doors at once, some mentioned that when spraying, the door tended to rotate, I solved this by slipping one of those heat shrink wire wraps that fits tightly on the rotating joint and solved that issue and remember if still loose use some heat. A few mentioned the separation of the joint that swivels, I just used two on each door better than the cost of replacing a door or cheap insurance a piece of twine tying both ends together. Hope this helps.

These things are fantastic. I tried to save money by buying some inexpensive wire hooks from another supplier. I had two doors break when they fell to the ground. So then I purchased these little beauties. Too soon old, too late smart.
