Laroy Starrett invented the combination square in 1877 and it has become a basic tool for every craftsman and builder.  The C11H series has a cast iron head with a handy spirit level and a hardened scriber.  The blade is machine divided, hardened and tempered with a reversible lock bolt that allows the blade to be turned over or end-for-end without removing the lock bolt or nut.  This assures true alignment of the blade and head.

Having owned a dozen "cheaper" combination squares, I am amazed at the accuracy of the markings, the accuracy of the 45 and 90 degeee angles and the ease of taking the rule out and putting it back in the base. I could never return to the "cheaper" squares.

I have used several brands of combination squares before this one, those are in the trash now. This will be the best investment you can add to your shop. Your saws will have never cut so straight, or should I say square.

This is my 2nd one as my first one "disappeared" while I was working on a project. An excellent tool. I also have the 6" and the 4" square.

Beautiful square, heavy, thick blade, easy to read. Obviously a quality tool. Instantly showed how far off my "best" machinist square was.

Pricey, but you get what you pay for. Uncompromised quality, extremely accurate, nicely finished. Don't expect to find this one for sale at a discount house.

As a mechanical engineer I've always known Starrett to be one of the best in its class and this is no exception. It has awesome accuracy, durability, and ease of use. Remember that "you get what you pay for".

Don't buy the cheap combo "squares" from the big-box stores. They are seldom square. Drop the extra bucks and get this quality, accurate tool that will last your lifetime.

Pretty expensive for a combination square and worth every penny. It is an outstanding instrument for anyone who wants to get things square.
