Great sound, comfortable to wear, pulls in stations 30 miles away clear local stations. I'm happy with my purchase, use them in my yard work while mowing.

No problems with reception or MP3, I use them everyday for 6-10 hours. This is my 3rd pair digital are about a year old. All three pairs after a year the electrical connection between the batteries and the recievers shorts out, and therefore cause the radio to go out, with the digital model I can still use the MP3 player. May look at other options before I replace these.

This the second Worktunes unit I have had and they have improved them greatly. My old Worktunes had difficulty picking up stations and would not work with my iPod unless the power was turned on using batteries. It wasn't long before the radio died completely and even the iPod quit working. The new Worktunes works great. The radio is easy to tune and picks up even weaker stations. It also works with the iPod with the power off saving batteries. I am happy with it.

Being that I don't know where some of these people are using there worktunes headgear, I can only speak for myself and my situation. I work on a military base where military and civilian aircraft use the same runway. I mow lawns there so I have to keep my eyes and ears open at all times. I occassionally get static or interfearence from the tower or planes, but other than that I am quite happy with my worktunes. I also use them at home mowing 5 acres of lawn.

Good hearing protection with a "next to worthless" radio turner. I live on a hillside with visual contact with radio towers on the other side of Portland. For another dollar in electronic components, Peltor could have provided a usable tuner. I decided not to return the WorkTunes because the hearing protection is adequate and the costs of returning are substantial. As someone else commented, "great idea, poor execution"

It took me a few minutes to realize that the AM/FM radio needs to be turned OFF to use the input jack. But once I did that, my MP3 player works great.

My woodworking shop is in the basement, so I do not get very many stations, but then neither does my regular AM/FM receiver.

All in all I am very pleased with this product since I can easily hear my tunes over a screaming a router. It does not totally block out my power tools, which is very important, since some feedback is important when operating equipment.

If you want to blast your eardrums, well, this is not the product you want. But if you want good hearing protection, a comfortable level of music, I recommend them.

I should have listened to the other reviews. The radio does not receive stations in a rural area. I had hoped to use the mp3 input, but because it is limited to 82 decibels you can only hear the radio faintly. I returned mine.

The Work Tunes are the best hearing protection I have in my shop. I really enjoy the mp3 input (just remember when using it with an mp3 player, the Work Tunes need to be turned OFF. Your mp3 player will control the volume like a regular pair of headphones). I like the fact that you can only turn it up so loud. After all, they are hearing protection. Very comfortable to wear, even for several hours at a time. Long battery life if you buy good batteries. I do agree the tuner could be better; however, if it becomes too much of a distraction plug in your mp3 player.

Compared to the ipod and sansa clip music devices, this works 200% better for reception on radio. It really helps for ear protection too. I have an old pair that doesn't have radio but works great for ear protection too. Sometimes I forget I have the new ones on and leave the radio off until my daughter asks what I'm listening to.

For hearing protection it's the best. Luckily I live in a suburban area and I can pick up a bunch of stations, but they do come in and out as I move in the shop. I'm satisfied since I got it on sale and free shipping!

Very poor reception inside my garage--even local stations are not very strong. Garage has metal roof and wood sides. outside strong local stations are OK but they even fad from time to time.

Comfortable to wear, living in the country, quite a ways from a large town, I wasn't sure if it would pickup the local stations. Not all local, but that's their problem not sending their signal this far. My little town only has a 2 way stop, but it's heaven.

Living in a rural area that is not close to many radio stations, this product has great reception.Whether on the tractor cutting the lawn or in the shop.I would recommend these to those who find machinery and tool noise tiring. You could judge its performance by the reception you would expect from any portable radio in your local.

I live in the sticks so radio reception is weak, but I get a usable signal. These are the best noise protectors of the three pairs of ear protectors I own. The other two sets are primaraly for gun shooters and are not nearly as good at cutting out the noise.

My husband has an audio background, so this was such a fun find. He has downloaded some 'Reasons to Believe' podcasts that he can know listen to anytime (in the shop, in the yard....) Very cool. Thanks

Suffice to say that my husband won't share these! Guess I'll have to buy my own because I have to do the tractor work, lawn mowing, weed eating, etc. without any tunes. My husband wears them all the time & is very impressed how they shield out the noisy machines. The reception is excellent.

These headphones work fairly well as noise protectors in the woodshop, and they are functional headphones for my iPod Shuffle, so I'm OK with them. I didn't have much trouble picking up the radio stations in which I'm interested, but that doesn't actually matter that much to me (though it's nice to get NPR for the occasional interesting interview or whatever).

The music sound quality is not that great -- tinny and bass-deficient -- and volume is on the low side, but it's better than nothing. The fit is fairly tight on my large-ish head, but not enough to cause a massive headache.

In case C Webb ever comes back here, or anyone else has his or her problem (with radio/input conflict), you have to turn off the radio to listen to your MP3 player -- the input function doesn't require the headphones to be turned on at all.

Unlike the other reviewers, I don't have reception problems in my garage/shop so I'm not as disapointed as the other reviewers. The adjustment ability is a little on the lame side and I don't think I'll recommend this to others as it's just not as cool as I thought it would be.

Poor is the only way to describe this product, It has extremely poor reception in the open air and none in a work shop environment, unless you call a constant Hiss & Crackle good reception. What makes this item so poor is there is a local radio station just ten miles away and it just about receives that station. I think two tin cans and a piece of string would have more reception than this item.

Amazingly poor radio reception, probably the worst tuner I have ever owned: hiss, crackle, fade out, loud fade-in, loud interference from other stations. Annoying to use. What a great idea - what a poor product!

I upgraded from an analog version of this product with the hope that the FM radio reception would be better. Unfortunately, that is not the case. The radio reception is poor, drifts, and gets lots of interference from other radio stations. The radio may be "digital" but lacks the proper circuitry for good reception. The hearing works well and I think this might be a good product with MP3 input.

Great hearing protection but don't buy this if you want to listen to AM stations. The directional design of the antenna means you loose the station as you turn your head. I found myself walking sideways in the shop so I wouldn't loose the station!

The sound is great, but have had the wire fail between sides so only one ear hears. replaced with new and they were dropped and now the volume is full. they get very hot with full time use.

I have tried these but the reception problem is significant even in the Washington DC area where we live. So I came up with a cheap alternative. If you already have an ipod or similar device with a tuner, attach your ear buds to it and then put your ear buds in your ears. Then put your $12 pair of ear protectors over that. The small ear bud wire does not affect the soft seal on the protectors at all. Duh.

The radio never worked right. Would keep picking up multiple stations and very poor reception. The am never worked. I should have returned them, but they fell off the bench and broke the radio. They are adequate for noise protection.

Initial finding, quite poor reception, I may need to add a coat hangar for a better antenna. As well, the sound is not very clear - with quite a bit of distortion.
The 'stereo input jack' is pretty useless, because it doesn't switch the radio off when it's plugged in. I suppose you're expected to find a 'quiet spot' on the dial, but in my area there is no such thing, AM or FM. Around here, those places on the dial that have no station only have static, which is audible in the background of the input sound.

"Have been a return customer for a number of years, and a recent experience has really cemented that bond for me. After using my Rockler lighted magnifying lens for a few months, one of the wires from the battery pack came loose. When I contacted Customer Service to inquire about sending the unit back, they instead sent me a brand new one - no questions asked, no return expected, no charge whatsoever. This simple step - coupled with top quality, innovative products - ensured my repeat business more than any other advertising technique or gimmick could ever do. Keep up the good work, Rockler!"
