I used the Wood Filler for kitchen cabinets for lights that hung underneath to light up the counter top, well one came out and a wood filler I had used was not as good. This so far worked better as I filled in the old holes and put new screws in the same place after drying. The color was a pretty close match even tho I knew I would need to mix but I wasn't that concerned as you can hardly tell now.

Stains slightly lighter than the color of the cherry I had but is an excellent filler. Dries quickly and fills deep holes easily.

This is the first time I have used a grain filler and I was very happy with the results. I look forward to using it on my next project.

Great product! Mixes easily and dries close to the same color. I use a lot of red cedar and finish with tung oil. The nail holes in the recycled boards almost vanished.
Thanks, Chris

Runny in the pot, but stiffens quickly. Sands well. Swells with application of water, so needs to be wetted and sanded down again if you want to use a water-based stain on your project. The cherry filler is very pink and does not seem to change color with the water-based dye I was using.

I just discovered Wunderfil to use as a grain filler on red oak harvested from my own land. It is as the name implies, wonderful! My wood is smooth as silk and it takes stain beautifully. I highly recommend this product.

I'm happy to say that Wunderfil - Black Wood Filler was a great choice for filling a bit of minor bug damage in a very expensive piece of Zirocote. This wood is very dark brown w/ black streaks & swirls. I'd highly recommend this product for people working dark colored woods.
Thanks, Gabe Douge - Luthier

I have used the natural oak filler on multiple projects over the last couple of years. This is one product that definitely lives up to its advertised capabilities.

This is an excellent product. Filling an area on a blond wood 50's dresser to have it blend with the rest of the finish was easy with Wonderfil. The product can be mixed to match the original finish. I found that after wiping with a damp cloth and drying, the filled area could buff down with a soft cloth so as not to affect the varnish on the surrounding good wood. It was a simple job with Wunderfil.

Wunderfil is the best filler I have ever used. I have used it to fill holes and as a grain filler on many projects. It takes stain better than any of the other fillers I have tried. One other great thing about Wunderfil is there is virtually no waste due to the filler drying out between uses. The last jar of Wunderfil I bought dried up several times. All I did was take a screw driver and break the solid filler loose from the container, then took a piece of dowel rod and ground the pieces up into powder and added water. It was always good as new.

This is a exceptional product. As a hole filler or wood grain filler. The light oak matches red oak perfectly.

Very nice product. I used the natural oak thinned with water a filler on a red oak project and it gave nice results under either shellac or Minwax Antique Oil.

I used the walnut wunderfil wood filler it was the best wood filler I've use and I've tried alot of them. I made a walnut cedar chest for my daughter for Christmas, this was the first time I used it as a grain filler, I was amazed at how smooth it made the boards. It look like it was going to be to light but I used a clear Sam Maloof finish and it blended in great.

I recently build a desk for my wife using 5/4 oak for the top. I've never used a woodgrain filler before and couldn't find any on the store shelves. Got it from Rockler, followed the directions and was very happy with the results. Showed it at my woodworkers club, Woodworkers of El Paso and was highly praised for it...thanks Rockler.

Excellent at filling minor joint imperfections when trying match up a 4-way and 6-way miter joint corner on a display piece. Also works great as a Oak grain filler. Thanks to Nate at the Minneapolis store for his recommendation.

The absolute best filler I have used. I have only used this for damage repair so far but will be starting a project soon and using it as a grain filler. Have confidence it will work well. Nearly undetectable after being stained.

It seems all other reviewers like this product. I purchased both maple and white oak. The maple was very watery and all but useless. I tried leaving the covers off for a day so that some of the solvent would evaporate. Of all water based fillers I have tried, by far the most disappointing.

Wunderfil makes me feel like an artist! I use two or more shades to create a natural wood grain effect when repairing gouges, hiding scratches, even obscuring stains. People can't spot the repairs. I appreciate the way it is quickly sandable, and find that after a day of drying, it is very durable (so do the sanding shortly after application). It takes varnish and/or stain like wood. It is my favorite filler for dents on complex surfaces because it is so manageable; after a careful second application, the area may require almost no sanding before painting (after a day of curing). I open by peeling back the seal and find this allows resealing so that it keeps its nice consistency.

I used this to fill some small areas of tearout on natural maple which I finished unstained. It looks great and is virtually undetecteble.

Great product... except it has a very short shelf life. I'm working on the second phase of a project and all the colors I purchased a few months ago are dry. Is there a way to reconstitute them?

Editor's note: To reconstitute try adding a little water and closing the container. overnight.

When using black stain the black woodfiller is perfect, you don't have to worry about the paintable stain not staining dark enough. I wish it were not quite so liquified. My project looks great.

Purchased the black wood filler and I am very unhappy with the product. The filler dried an ugly grey, not black as expected.

Editor's note: colors may appear lighter than they are when first sanded. When finish is applied the ture color will show. To see what true color will be before finishing wipe with a rag dampened with mineral spirits. Stains or dyes can also be used with this filler to change color as needed.

I used the Natural Oak Wunderfil. I was very happy in how easy the product was to use and the fact it is environmentally friendly. However, when filling nail holes I was dissapointed in how much shrinkage would occur - often taking 3-4 appliations before the hole was covered.

Used to fill 3/4" cherry routing errors (oops) and nail holes and 3/4" cherry plywood nail holes Really satisfied with the look after staining and finishing. Definitely would use on future wood projects.

This product works great as a grain filler in oak -- sands and stains well, but not the greatest in filling air nail holes or vertical joint touchups. Shrinkage is a real problem, even with 2 coats on some fills. (too time-consuming) Cleanup is easy and it may be environmentally safe, but the solvent-based fillers or sawdust & clear model glue are still my choice of fillers in cabinetmaking. As a grain filler, I'd purchase it again.

I bought two different colors and after thorough mixing, both were almost the consistency of honey. It barely did an acceptable job of filling a 1/16” hole. When filling a 1/8” hole in a horizontal board a concave dimple formed immediately. It took three fill/dry applications before the hole was built up to a flat surface. It is completely useless for any hole or crack larger that 1/8”. When I tried to fill a 1/4" through hole in a horizontal board, the filler merely poured through the hole and dripped out the other side. With the board in a vertical position, it just leaked out onto the front of the board.
When diluted lightly, it could be used as a water-based paste-wood filler, but it would be prohibitively expensive compared to ready made quart size products.
Jars of different colors all have identical generic labels on the jars with color identification on the lids only – a very poor manufacturing practice. I frequently mix 3-5 wood filler colors together in order to match the color of a particular project I’m working on. This could easily lead to incorrectly labeled jars.

Editor's note: The consistency of this filler can be modified before application by either adding water to make it less solid so it can be used as a grain filler; or the moisture in the filler can be let to evaporate some before applying to make it so less shrinkage occurs after applying.

Black dries grey, not black. After trying 3 different black puttys, I had to go over the existing so called black with a Sharpie to get true black.

I used the cherry filler on a couple of chip-outs on a blanket chest that I recently built for my wife and the color matches well. If you have ever used Durham's water putty, this is very similar except it comes pre-mixed and tinted (much less messy). It dries fast, sands easy and doesn't shrink much. Since you typically don't use a lot at one time (hopefully) I'm not sure about shelf life...we'll see.
