1) Submitted by Greg Ward, from Edmonds, WA on 10/17/2010 Customer Rating: Been a GC for 10 years, bought it last year. I think it has a place on my jobsite, but it is one of those things that you bring and leave there for a while as it is quite heavy which it needs to be to do its job I love the holding power and it is great for specific cutting jobs with the skilsaw as sometimes it is hard to clamp studs for angled cuts or plunge cuts etc. Spent some time in an ER when I opted for saving time and not properly secure something I was cutting! I think it is worth it to use from a safety standpoint. Not too worried about the plastic parts, if it can be on a jobsite for a year and not break it is probably pretty tough. I would buy it again and have considered having two if I worked with larger pcs of wood and or logs that needed planing or boring. Hope this helps!

I did a little research and bought both the Jawhorse and the plywood panel clamp. Both were delivered in about 3 days in a well made cardboard carton that was worth keeping for later use. I have a very small shop and no bench vise. This product is extremily versatle and can be used in many ways. It has become my extra hand. Although some complain of the weight, the weight gives me a feel of confidence. They do advertise that is is solid steel, but it has a few plastic pieces. Only the plastic locking lever looks like it could be a problem after a little wear and tear. Over all, I am completely happy with the product.

I gave it four stars because when clamping vertical doors or posts etc. the ratcheting foot bar will contact and scratch what you have clamped. Needs wide jaws or a narrower foot bar! Its still a excellent tool and has already proved itself very valuable for one man do-it-yourself projects. Very Satisfied!

5) Submitted by Roger, from Dana Point, CA on 11/27/2009 Customer Rating: Wow. I just got this on sale at the Rockler store in Orange. I actually bought 2 because I'm going to give one to my dad. Totally cool tool. Out of the box, it took 1 minute to set up and begin use. The jaw has amazing clamping power and capacity. I have a garage shop, so space is at a premium. I don't have a workbench so clamping has always been an issue. I don't think this device can totally replace a workbench, but it comes in a close second. And for the small footprint and collapsible feature, it's just what my garage shop needed.

Its the best tool in my shop.

It is been very helpful, I have used it for a number of projects. I checked the Work table, and it is not that good, but the Jawhorse itself without any attachment is already a great help, easy to move around.

I have used it for a number of projects and am pleased with what I could now can do without another person's help or additional bench supports. It is heavy, but in order for it to perform to expectations, it needs to be well constructed with durable parts. I have other benches and they have been set aside, unused, because of the versatility of this one.

9) Submitted by Peter, from Victoria, BC on 8/8/2009 Customer Rating: I bought one of these a couple of weeks ago after much careful consideration. The stores here don't stock them so I had to special order it. After using it on a few occasions I see that it does exactly what it is supposed to do: Clamp stuff. After close inspection I realize that it's life expectancy might not be as long I might hope due to the poor quality workmanship. Most of the welds are poor quality and so is the paint job. And the rear leg folding down to make the carrying handle is a good idea, it would be nice if I could fit my fingers underneath to get a good grip. It's a nice gadget but I could have done without it. The weight of it would make it inconvenient to use for general contracting or uses where it is transported a lot, but it is solid.

I told myself that this tool is the answer to all my "holding" problems. I also pulled up Rockler's web site and further found information about the item. Everything I had gleaned was very positive. Even Rocklers "Review" section was positive except for Peter's comment. I read over it and kept his comments in my head as I finally went to see the product "face to face". Here is what I found. The item was displayed at my local Rocklers, AND it was on sale. Peters comment about welds, plastic parts and paint job were all far from being true. Yes, there are a total of 5 plastic pieces and two of them are the Rockler logo sign on each side. The wheel was plastic, but I quickly realized that no one would actually pull the thing on the wheel because it only works on smooth surfaces. The locking large turn handle was heavy enough material that nothing would happen with it. Then the welds are about as good as they could be and the paint job was a smooth powder finish. With care and proper treatment I cannot envision this product having a short lifetime at all. I would have to respectively disagree with Peter's comments. What I fould that could be improved if at all. the rubber jaws covers have screw holes for three screws each. Only one was in each cover. This seemed strange. Then the system has to be put into position upside down. This makes it difficult to turn over and set it up correctly. It is quite heavy, 43 pounds. Then when the item is being stored, whether on the garage floor or where ever, the face of the product is on the ground and it actually has nothing rubber to protect the paint job and surface of the product, minor but something to think about. I like the product and I liked the dollar savings. The Rockler employee told me that this is the first time it had been on sale. They have had this in stock for over one year and every time they received an order they would be sold out that week. No product has ever been returned because of any defect or problem. Now, the pressboard table top is literally falling apart and the jawhorse itself is rusting. Plus some of the plastic parts have dry rotted I guess and have broken. Great product but I don’t want to replace it in another year.

13) Submitted by Barry, from Hartsburg, MO on 2/28/2009 Customer Rating: I do recommend this product but if you expect it to be perfect,[they have]plastic parts in a few key places where they should have used more durable materials. Even though the infomercials have said "no moving parts to replace" and "made of all-steel construction", these statements are not true. But the design and versatility of this product is so good and attractive to most people, it is a shame that they don't eliminate all of these plastic parts and just charge a few dollars more - with as versatile as this product is, customers would be willing to pay the extra money to eliminate the plastic in the brace apparatus holding the rear leg, the latch in front, the roller, and the end cap on the rear leg where it makes contact with the ground. However, so far it has done everything that it claims it can do, and more. So don't keep this from you buying one - it is worth the money. The plastic parts in key places is why I did not rate it 5 stars.
