The plans are good and the down draft is excellent! I also used a rabbit for the edging. it works well.

Great inexpensive alternative to full size downdraft table. Works great with my 1 1/2 hp dust collector. I found a very useful hint on another website. Cut 1 or 2 3/4" pieces of MDF to the same dimensions as the Rockler panels. When sanding smaller items, replace Rockler panels with MDF panels and it will improve suction.

Free plans made this a easy build. When done, connection to my dust collector made made sanding a very enjoyable chore compared to the old way which produced much airborne dust and made a mess out of me and my shop.

I built the case as per the downloadable plans and would suggest these modificationd;
panels B and C increase 1/2 in
cut 1/4 x 1/2 rabbits in panels A
Rabbets provide more gluing surface than butt joint, and screws in the end grain of MDF probably would not hole long.
Also, add handles to sides A for added portability.

Maybe my shop vac isn't powerful enough, but I am disappointed in the results it obtains. There is a lot of debris left on the table as I sand. It gets some of the dust, but no where near the 90% claimed in my opinion.

I haven't had time to build this as of yet, but it looks like a great addition to any wood working shop.

I have used this plan and product several times with good results. For sanding smaller hand held pieces I place a cardboard the size of a panel over each of the two outside panels which increases the air flow draw.
