I purchased 4 of these for my boys to use while helping me in the shop. They seem well built and have a cover that closes so you can put it in your pocket. It would be nice if it had a foot button, it will only work in inches. It is a good BASIC dimentional calculator.

Great for the carpentry shop calculations, I did not need this calculator but when your mind is tired and you need to do extra is very useful, also when you have a large volume of work it's goind to save you from making mistakes, nothing better for teh price. Thanks Rockler!

Great product for the price. I have other calculators that do fractions, but is is nice to have a dedicated on that fits into my shop apron and has a cover to keep dust off.

I have used this calculator a few times now and find it useful. It is handy when working with fractions but it does take a bit of fooling with it to learn to use it. I like the fact that it is solar so I don't have to worry about batteries and the hinged dust cover is great in the shop (I can't put it down and not misplace it). It would be nice if it had a couple more functions and could change fractions to decimals.

It does (eventually) work as advertised, but it takes a while to figure out how to make conversions. The keystrokes aren't intuitive, and the directions are poor. If you get this, I'd advise playing with it to figure out how to use it, and writing out your own set of instructions.
The dust cover is a nice feature, and I'll be able to keep this in my workshop without endangering my "good" calculator.

Have found this 'tool' invaluable whether woodworking or otherwise for metric conversions.... Have ordered a couple more for friends!

I should have read the reviews first. This doesn't convert fractions to decimal. Seems like they could have added that functionality without too much effort. I wouldn't spend $6 on it again. It does basic calculations fine though.

This speeds the calculating of measurements using fractions. This way I don't have to keep recalculating by hand and maybe getting them wrong.
It's well worth the price even if it wasn't half price.

I am very disappointed with the quality of this product. The initial entry of keystrokes display and are quite readable- but nothing appears on the output screen after that. Bottom line: This item is useless to me. Since it cost five dollars (plus tax), it doesn't seem to be worth my time or trouble to return it.

You probably already have a hand calculator in your workshop. Can you remember 2.54 centimeters per inch? The calculator has nothing to contribute, its instructions are inscrutable, the so-called notepad is just paper glued inside the cover.

This is not a good quality product. It did not worked right from the start. It is easy to use but it only worked for about 10 minutes before it started going crazy and not responding to commands at all. Since it cost five dollars, it doesn't seem to be worth my time or trouble to return it. I will be looking for one that works longer than 5 min.

Almost no instructions on use. I can't even get it to add inches & fractions. It's not what I thought.

Easy to use after 2 minute learning curve. I was disappointed to find out that it does not convert decimal to fractions. My thickness guage measures in decimal and all my other measures are inches and fractions. It is primarily useful for metric to inch conversions and adding fractions. Oh well it wasn't expensive.

I bought this for woodworking and to help me to do mechanical engineering work at my real job. Often I have to convert mm into inches and vice versa. It is a little faster than a regular calculator if you have to convert mm into fractions with inches and vice versa. It works fine generally. The good points are,
- It has a cover so it is good for dusty environment.
- It is solar powered so it never needs to replace any battery (although it seems like it has a non-replaceable rechargeable battery inside since covering the solar cells does not turn it off so I don't know how long that battery is good for).
- the writing pad on the inside of the cover is a good idea.
- I got it for $5.
The only complaints are,
- It does not convert fractions into decimals with inches directly.
- The highest accuracy in inches is rounded off to 1/64 when converting from mm. For woodworking this is fine but for certain mechanical engineering work it is not good enough. However, it does remember the original number if you convert it twice back to the original number so it would not lose accuracy that way.

I really expected a better calculator, It's just a 4-banger that handles fractions. At $5 not even worth returning.

This calculator does work as advertized but it is difficult to get there. The instructions are of almost no help. it took me about a half-hour of playing with it just to get a calculation. I'm not sure I will remember how I got there next time I use it. The other comments are correct: the key strokes are not intuitive and figuring it out then writing down your own instructions would be useful. Evidently you get what you pay for.

Totally an impulse buy! I was gambling - looking for an easy way out of replacing my $98.00 Construction Master. This won't do it.

Can't believe this is a cabinetmaker's calculator. It doesn't convert inches to feet and feet to inches. I don't know about other cabinetmakers, but most of the drawings submitted to me to build have feet in them somewhere. Dividing by 12 only gives feet with fractions of feet, which is useless. Found this calculator annoying to use. Went back to my Construction Master.

I bought this as I believe it would help us with cabinet calculations. There are no instructions other than a little blurb on the cover, and it is tedious to use.

Having paid "full price" this will be returned for a refund. The key strokes aren't all that bad! I could get used to them. But, it has no Memory. Which for my use in the shop is important, and after awhile the input strokes began to take/not take, seemingly at random.

The first one to arrive was dead, they sent a replacement, with extra batteries. First one was still dead even with new batteries. The replacement is a joke. This can only work in fractions NOT DECIMALS. MM to inch is in fractions, and a round off.
Save your money,
MM = inch x 25.4
inch = mm x .03937
