Upon a stack of Bibles I swear I'll never ever buy wood screws from the "big box stores". I've started building a set of built-in bookcases 24' by 8' for a Pastor's Study. I'm using birch plywood and dimensional lumber for the construction. The wood screws that I had purchase from the "big box store" would snap off during the last couple of turns. This was even after I had used the Rockler Insty-Drive pilot/shank/countersink bit to properly drill the holes. After I switched to these screws I did not have one single problem. To cap it off, these screws are less expensive than junk from the "big box store". :

Great screws! They go in very smoothly with no noticeable effort on the drill driver. Also they don't break under torque like the lighter gauge screws carried by the big box stores. The only down side is the coating tends to leave a little dark residue on your hands, but that's a small trade off for the ease with which they go in.

These screws are the best, I have tried others but keep coming back to Rockler because of the dependability and ease of use.

I admitedly on occasion overdrive screws. I also use an impact driver. The orange and blue box stores screw's would constantly snap heads off or strip out the heads. (Yes I drill appropriate holes for the screws and used new bits etc..) These square drive screws I have had zero snapped heads and zero stripped heads. And honestly price wise they are almost if not right in line with the 100 packs at the box stores for the inferior screws. I am very happy with these and plan to continue to buy them as a new size comes up until I have a good stock of them.

The square drive is excellent but the "modern" thread design is best of all. The shank of the screw is smaller than the thread width, no binding when you drive it into a pilot hole. The lubricated threads and shank probably add a lot. Easiest driving screw ever. I'm building a Murphy bed to add a third bedroom without adding on. Thanks Rockler!!!

Besides driving in easily, the square drive does not tear out.

When ever possible, I use square drives. And the truely square head, not the combination square/Philips that do not work well with either.

They are the best thing since sliced bread.
I've not recived anything from Rockler that wasn't of the best quality and there prices are very good.

Are you are tired of junk from [overseas]? Try these. They don't break, the heads don't round out, they are self starting, they go in easily and the color lets them fade to the background.

Square drive screws don't fall off the driver and make a very handsome finished product, something the Canadians have known for some time. If you would offer more sizes and types other than just flat head, I wouldn't have to pester Canadian friends to send them to me from Ottawa.

We received exactly what we ordered, an excellent product in good time. Unfortunately, due to ambiguity of description and abbreviations, we didn't get what we wanted. The photo is fine for those who can see, but those of us who are blind must rely on the description to understand what the product is.
