The 2-1/2'' hose in this kit stretches from approximately 2 feet up to 12 feet as you move around and retracts to take up excess slack to prevent tangling and tripping. Easily connects to your shop vac and accessories as well as dust ports. Also included are two metal bridge clamps and two ABS swivel fittings that attach to the hose securely and rotate with ease so your hose won't coil or kink. Great for a variety of jobs in your shop, home or car. Not recommended for liquid cleanup.

Like other reviews of this product after several years I finally got tired of constantly fighting the OEM shop vac hose. I have been using two hoses and keeping them together and the accessories attached was a pain when moving around my shop. I purchased the expandable 4 inch hose some time back and was very please with it. Now, with the shop-vac hose I can get around the shop, hook up to various tools and it collapses back to a managable size for storage.

Listen, I have been fighting the plastic hose for my 2.5HP Craftsman shop vac for years. The original hose has more memory than I do. That darn thing would constantly dislodge causing me to stop what I was doing to plug the hose back into the vac or reset the handle to the other end of the hose. The Rockler hose system is really great. I no longer have hose falling off attachments or from the handle, length of the hose is excellent and flexibility is also quite nice.
And yes, as other reviewers have stated, the hose is heavy and will drag a shop vac along when the hose is extended to near it's maximum length. Be aware of that, but do not base your purchase on that single aspect.
I am very pleased with the hose and swivel attachments.

I was looking for something to use with my dust collector to clean up the floor. I had several old Shop Vac accessories from previous vacs that had burned up so I thought I may as well use them instead of purchasing the other units that are sold. It works well, the swivels are real nice. The hose is a little heavy but the way it retracts makes it worth while. My vac accessories worked well with it also.

Pros: High quality, heavy hose. Contracts to about 3 feet when not in use and hung on a wall.
Cons: The connectors on the hose and the vac handle (purchased separately) pull apart as you try to stretch the hose during use. They are tapered and only fit snuggly in the last 1/2". So, as you move the hose around, the hose pulls out of its connection or the handle pulls off the hose.
This is a GREAT idea. But, so far, I am not totally satisfied. I'm looking for ways to make the connections tighter.

The wire coil in the hose is too strong. Unless you stretch the hose and tie both ends down with something, it just retracts to the 2' length. Quality of hose is excellent if you can only keep it stretched out where you need it.

The shopvac hose is heavy but since I'm using it in connection with my dust collection system not a shop vac that's not a problem. I like the swivel connections and the fact that when not in use it takes up very little space. My only concern is toughness, I guess only time will tell. So far, so good.

Nice hose, very good connectors, and the bridge clamps are awesome. It gives me the additional reach I needed to get to most of my shop. I would have given it a 5 but I'm undecided as to whether I like that handle or not.

I have a dust collection system built in and around my small woodworking shop that is based on a 6-hp shop-vac with a cyclone attachment to separate the heavy debris from the light.

I ordered the Shop-vac hose kit to enhance the system and allow me to stretch the pick-up reach to all corners of my shop and to allow me to use it with some hand-held power tools router, sanders, etc

The hose itself is quite well made and sturdy, but also quite heavy, plus you must use a fair amount of force to extend it, as the embedded-spring coil is very tight. My expectations were that is would be as light and maneuverable as a standard shop-vac hose...it is not.

So, the pro's are that it is well made and sturdy, but the negatives are that it is quite heavy and cumbersome.

Still a good product though...

I rated this product excellent, for the quality of the product only. The downside is, It will not stretch to a 12' length, unless you have a stationary vacuum unit. I have a shop vac, after about five feet, the vacuum just rolls around behind me. Hose by itself, is of high quality. Should last for years.

Kit met expectations and then some. The fittings appeared to be too small to fit my vacuum and couplings but after careful measuring, I shortened the couplings by one half inch on each end and now the tapers from different manufacturers all fit. All is fine. It fits all of my existing DC equipment. The hose is heavy but the convenience of the hose far outweighs that. Pricey but worth it.

It is heavy and 12 feet is surprisingly short - 14 feet would have been better for my needs but much better than the stiff Craftsman hose that continually came apart from the vacuum. For $ I was disappointed that I had to assemble the swivel ends - no small task. Prepare to invest at least a half hour in this assembly unless you've done this before or are near genius.

This is an excellent 2 1/2" shop vac hose. The quality of the material is top notch and it performs as advertised. It extends to its full length with ease and retracts when not it use.

There are a couple of issues that are not shared in the marketing material.

1 The hose wants to retract under vacuum. So it requires some force on your part to keep it extended. When I hook my random orbital sander to the hose end, and turn the vac on, the vacuum wants to pull the sander from my hand. It is great for capturing the sanding dust, but is tiresome to overcome the vacuum force and maintain correct pressure and orientation when sanding.

2 Because of #1, you need to secure the hose end well at both ends to prevent it from separating from the vac or the hose tool. This also means that the vac will follow closely behind you when under vacuum unless it is captured or fixed to a support.

Bottom line: In spite of the minor issues, I own two of these. There are superior over the hard plastic hose you get with the Shop Vacs.

A quality hose but 12' long it's not. Stretched out pretty taut all I could measure was 119 inches. The mfgr's description on the box also sez 12' so maybe my ruler shrunk after all these years.

Nice hose, heavy duty and the swivel feature is very nice! Only issue is the connectors are a bit undersized for my shop vac and craftsman accesories.

Great idea, but cumbersome. I purchased this hose along with the Shop Vac Handle and 4 to 2 1/2" reducer. I needed the other items to connect my Shop Vac to the 4" port on my bandsaw. I am presently using a Vortex collector attached to the vacuum so I attached the hose to that. Unfortunately, the hose proves to be too heavy and when I use the vacuum for cleanup, I wind up dragging the Vortex and the vacuum around the room before the hose ever uncoils to its 10' length. Furthermore, the handle did not fit the swivel fitting on the hose without adding a layer of tape to make it tight. Ironically, the handle fits perfectly on my existing hose, so I plan to return the rather expensive hose kit and stick with the original hose. The retracting feature is not worth the other drawbacks.

Good heavy construction. Too heavy for practical use. Ill fitting, cumbersome. Literally more trouble than it is worth. On the good side it was easy to return.

I hate this hose. When the shop vac is on it tries to collapse the length of the hose. I end up dragging the shop vac behind me with a 3' length of hose to work with. But when I turn off the vac the hose become limp and falls on the floor. This was a waste of money. It looks really great in the pictures but you must have the wheels glued to the floor so it does not move.

Looked like a good idea at the time. I didn't really think that I should have to assemble a vac hose, a minor problem. It is heavy, it unplugs itself easily as the connectors are not that tight of a fit. And my biggest complaint: because it is heavy, it will sag and have sharp turns, if it is not pulled straight (to its full lenght). This can and does cause it to clog up when the debris tries to make it thru the sharp sagging turns (usually near the vac intake port). If you are not careful, you can get your fingers (if in the wrong place at the wrong time0 pinched when the hose contracts quickly. I'm looking at going back to the standard, more unwieldly stiffer hose. You will either love this hose or hate it.

I purchased this product so that I could get away from having to use the standard hard platic hoses provided by the original equipment vendors. These hoses are generally not long enough and you end up pulling the vacumm along with you and the vacuum usually gets stuck somewhere. You can get extensions, but they are not flexible and generally a pain. So when I saw this product and the video, I thought that this is great and exactly what I am looking for. But that was not the case. The hose fits on the vacum cleaner pretty good, but I had to use some tape to get a tighter fit so I would not pull the hose off of the vacuum easy when I extended the hose more than 2 feet. But when I got to the 2 foot length, the hose did not easily extend as it showed in the video but instead, pulled the vacuum - when the vacuum became stuck behind something, then it extended. Good concept but does not work as demonstrated in the video. Product was returned. A little disappointed.

The hose is a little on the heavy side for a Shopvac but this is not inconvenient enough to offset the excellent quality of the item, its wonderful flexibility and reach and above all , the fact that it retracts to a useful storage length when not in use. I highly recommend it.
