May not be better than canned beer but a darned close second. Put these on my wood lathe table and they work great. Very easy to install too. I plan on a couple more for work tables.

Love these wheels. I put them on the inside on my metal workbench. I just had to drill holes in the metal and use machine screws w/ wood spacer. They work great.

I'm 70 but how sweet it was to install. They work so slick. I wish I had them a long time ago! They seem to be made well and are a quality product for the rating they give them. It make it easy to make mobile your shop equipment.

I think I am going to use these on the table saw stand I am building using 8020inc's 1-1/2 aluminum extrusions.

I'll just need to enlarge the mounting holes to accept the 5/16 SHCS.

Using the instructions (clearly located on the side of the box) I calculated the difference between the floor and the bottom of the mounting plate. I ripped a short piece of scrap wood to that dimension. To install the frame to the work bench I rested mounting plate on the scrap piece and used a self centering Vix bit to drill the top hole. After driving home the top screw, I repeated the process to drill & screw the bottom whole. Now, everything in my small shop is mobile and I can optimize open space for working on my projects.

Easy install. Casters move easily. Installed on two different benches.

I built a "H" mobile base for the legs on my router table. The first base that had was square and did not allow me to stand close to my router table. My woodshop is small so my tools have to move. I will be buying another set this year to go with a lathe I'm going to buy.

I recently built a larger base for my contractor table saw to provide a safer and more stable footprint for saw operations. Included in the homemade base is a better dust collection system that hooks into my central dust system. With all the new additions, the base is quite heavy {and very stable, too}. The caster system is the mobility answer. Installation is quick and easy and the casters work perfectly. This is another great Rockler product that is a safety item as well as a time-saver.

I recently installed this set of casters on my big workbench. I mated 2  benches last year and now needed them to be mobile yet solid while in use. These casters fit my needs perfectly. I mounted them a little lower than suggested to have higher lift when engaged. The bench is 40"x60" with heavy vises, clamps and drawers filled with tools, and I can push it all around with one hand and very little effort. I used my impact driver to mount them and had no problems with the provided screws. I suppose you just have to be smarter than the screw to not strip the phillips. Obviously the screws need a pilot hole if mounting in hardwood. Great product!

I recently finished my "ultimate workbench", and, as you can see, I've used several Rockler products. The two vises are Rockler's heavy duty quick release vises. I also added their heavy duty levelers since my shop floor is very uneven. And finally, I installed Rockler's Workbench casters to allow me to move my bench if necessary. The casters work great and the bench moves with ease. They were super easy to install. With a solid walnut base with built in cabinet, and a hard maple top, I love the look of my new workbench. I can't wait to get started on my next project.

Easy to install, but make sure you leave room over top to have leverage. I initially installed on the inside of the legs of my workbench under the shelf and did not leave enough room to really get on top of the lever. Once I moved them to the outside they work great. Easy to lift the workbench and it moves super smoothly.

I bought these for my Sjobergs Elite 1500 bench. There were a few issues mounting them which I'll detail here. On my bench the legs aren't flush with the base. I had to cut shims so that I could mount the casters at the correct height from the floor. I also decided that I wanted to mount the casters on the inside of each leg so they wouldn't get in the way and I thought it would look better. But this required a small modification on two of the casters so they wouldn't interfere with the built-in drawer and cabinet door on the bench. I basically cut out a 1/4"x1" rabbet from the caster lever using a hacksaw and ground my modification smooth with a file. This worked out well. Lastly, and the reason for 4 stars instead of 5, are the included screws. Even though I pre-drilled the holes for the mounting hardware I soon stripped the phillips-head screws. I ended up using 1 1/2" #14 screws with a hex head. Given the prevalence of cordless impact drivers, I'd think this type of screw would be what should include by default.

I bought the set of casters to mount onto a Rockler Beech Wood Workbench. Unfortunately, after the rather simple intallation, the casters interferred with the feet of the bench and the bench could not be rolled. The solution was also rather simple, just a little time consuming. If the instructions had warned of the possible interference, I would have rated the product higher as they really do work well.

I recently built a new and very heavy workbench for my garage shop. I needed the workbench to be mobile as a space saving feature. This set of casters solved that problem. Intallation took 10 minutes for the set. The workbench glides effortlessly and once you get used to how the latching mechanism works.... very simple to use. Thanks Rockler.

Casters work well and are good quality. However, for those of us who have leveling screws on our bench legs the 2" dimension for the bottom hole is too close to the leg edge or misses the leg completely. I added a third hole 1" up from the bottom hole so that I could maintain the correct mounting height of the bracket.

I have a big 9', heavy work/storage bench that I occasionally need to move around. I've been using a custom cradle that slides under the runners but it's a pain to set up. Even though the weight is well above that recommended for these casters, I thought I'd try them. They were easy to install. There is not enough leverage available to lift this bench, but if I use my old method of lifting it with jacks, these castors can be lowered and will take the weight.

I do my woodworking in my garage, and everything but my workbench was on wheels due to the cramped space. Today I installed the Workbench Caster Kit, which only took about 10 minutes, so my workbench is now movable too. What an improvement! Very easy to install and it makes moving things around a lot easier. It even makes it possible to move the workbench against the other equipment when I'm not woodworking so I can actually walk through the garage to get outdoors.

I discarded the screws provided and used 1/4" carriage bolts and removable Loc-Tite. The casters and lifts are heavy duty and well made. I am very happy with this product.

Changing two things would improve this otherwise very useful product. When attempting to fasten the top screw the back of the foot lever is in the way, making it difficult to get a driver positioned with enough leverage to drive the provided screws into hardwood, even with a pilot hole drilled.  I stripped the Phillips head screws. Suggest extending the mounting bracket slightly at the top, with the screw hole moved up, so as to better clear the back end of the foot lever, plus moving to hex head or square/hex socket drive screws.

To save floor space, my installation is inside the legs of a medium size Sjobergs workbench. I slightly remodeled the cabinet bottom in order to allow ~8" above the floor for black lever clearance. The raise/lower hardware operates smoothly and the bench rolls easily or parks on demand.

I've been looking for something that would allow me to move my workbench and this exceeded my expectations. There is nothing out there like this. Simple to install and works perfectly. My bench weighs around 300 pounds, but with the castors engaged, moving it around my garage is effortless. Now I can use my bench as an out-feed table for my table saw.

I added these workbench casters to my newly built bench and I love them. It lifts the bench up just enough so you can move it where you want to then you simply lift up slightly and disengage them. It keeps my wife happy as I am working out of my 2 car garage.

Pleased with the casters, how they are built and how well they work. Only disappointment was the provided lower-quality phillips-head screws with heads that strip out easily. Would suggest a screw or bolt with a stronger head.

These are great and work really well. I would suggest, if you are going to have your workbench on a flat slab floor, to mount them a little higher than the suggested four inches. It gives you a little less ground clearance but it is easier to engage the lifts. I used a scrap wood jig as Marc did after I determined how much ground clearance I really wanted. I ended up using a longer screws because I could on my bench. I did manage to strip two of the screw heads and it was easy to do!

I have had to move my bench a number of times and the casters engage and disengage easily with no binding. They remain firmly attached with no sign of loosening.

I've got a very nice, heavy workbench, but I had to keep it up against the wall in my garage/workshop. For some reason my wife thinks a garage should be used for parking a car. This caster set was just the ticket. Now I can roll the workbench into the middle of the floor, plunk it down, and it's rock solid and accessible from all sides. Install was quick and quite easy. One suggestion, though - Rockler, why don't you include a cardboard drilling template in the package? I made my own to ensure proper screw height and spacing without tedious, down-on-the-garage-floor-on-hands-and-knees measuring. But it's still a great product!

Editor's note: Thanks for the suggestion Tom.  Our product development team is going to work with the manufacturer to add a template in future production runs.

Only one thing to add to the other reviews - Mounting per the instructions puts the bench legs 3/4" off of the floor, which is unnecessarily high in my opinion. I may re-install at 1/4" off the floor for ease of use and a more comfortable raised height.

Like other reviewers I had just completed my new workbench. Due to space considerations in my shop garage I was looking for casters which would lift the workbench for easy mobility, but would set it down solidly on the floor when not engaged. The casters were easy to installjust follow the directions. They work as advertised. A great purchase.

I bought and installed a set of these rollers on my workbench. They do the job, but they are [difficult] to put up and down. A lot of sharp edges that can tear your hands/feet up if not really careful. I have to use a board to get them back up! need the extra leverage or it's too dangerous.

35) Submitted by Larry, from Martinez, CA on 12/3/2012

The good thing about these is they provide mobility without interfering with the normal stability of the workbench when they are not in use. The one negative in my opinion is there is no "soft" release of the casters. When you release the second corner the bench will crash to the ground. This can be a little disconcerting if your bench is heavy, and you might not want to have a soft-toed shoe under that lever when it is released. Two things help. Mount these to have as little lift as possible, and use a lever of some sort instead of your toes to release the casters. If not for this negative, I would give these a 5.

The product is good but the fasteners are substandard. I no-longer trust the fasteners that come with various products and use a better quality. Never use an impact with the fastener or it may snap the fastner. Otherwise good product. Most affordable in the retractable caster category.

These are not of the quality of product that I would have expected . And certainly not of the best design. They tend to flop around like a broken leg, get hung up, and have to be individually raised and lower. There were not instructions for mounting - not that it would have improved them much. I cannot recommend these.
