I'm using these to attach bed rails to the headboard and footboard. Very, very solid. Absolutely no play in the joint. Tricky drilling the holes in the rails and getting things to line up but otherwise a straightforward install.

I used the cross dowels to join the side rails of a four poster bed I made to the posts. I thought the dowels could have been larger, but they worked great. Lining the dowels up with the connector bolts was a challenge, but they drew tight, very tight in fact there is absolutely no give between the posts and the side rails.

The cross dowels work well. I suggest you drill a 17/64 hole for the 1/4 bolt that intersects the dowel. Shipping was prompt

Much cheaper than home centers. It takes a bit more precision when drilling the holes than I was expecting. But it was a quick learning curve. I used them to assemble stackable twin beds bunk beds. They work great.

These little 1/4-20 fasteners have many uses. I use these for jigs and fixtures made with MDF. Since MDF has poor screw holding ability these cross nuts are a great alternative. These are a great buy & it would be nice to see them in 5/16-18 too!

Cross dowels were missing from initial shipment -- there was a hole in the box they probably fell out -- Rockler promptly shipped replacements at no charge. They work great, though I would have liked a slightly larger size to fit the holes in the futon frame more exactly.

Lost bolts to put a chair together. These were exactly what the mfg used and so they worked great. Chair is together and working fine. Thanks!

Worked perfect to put our futon back together! The movers broke the original hardware dismantling the futon, then the manufacturer said no replacement hardward was available because it was discontinued. I was thrilled to see how fast the cross dowels came all the way from Minnesota (including going through customs) within a week of ordering them. Thanks for filling out all the extra paperwork and the great service to get them here.

The online information was great.
I ordered the parts that we lost when moving our couch and the fit was excellent.

I had lost the cross dowels to a bed frame, so I ordered the cross dowels, along with the 4.75" bolts in case my bolts didn't fit. Your bolts were long enough, but were threaded only 1/4 of the way, so they were useless. Fortunately, my bolts (which are threaded all the way) fit your cross dowels, so I was able to put the bed together.

I made a mistake in the quantity I ordered of these cross dowels and I went to Home Depot to get extras because of time constraints. What a mistake! The cross dowels I purchased from HD were zinc plated and the manufacturer plated the threads undersized. I had to retap all of these cross dowels before I could use them! As a master tool and die maker, I have seen this problem before.
Buy Rockler and you won't be disappointed.

The bolts and the dowel connectors are sold separately, though I don't know why, you can't use one without the other. I've used these connectors many times and the cross dowels were always included. So make sure you order the dowels separate.
Editor's note: Cross dowels are sold separately as joint connector bolts can be used with either cross dowels or cap nuts.
